BOSTON– The Huskies are back out on the road and facing off against their second ACC foe of the season when they head to Syracuse, N.Y. on Tuesday night where they will square off against the Orange at 7 p.m. at the Carrier Dome.
The two teams will meet for the first time since the 2007-08 season in a game to be features as an ACC Network Extra on WatchESPN.
Northeastern will be looking for its first ever victory over the Orange on Tuesday night and here are some other things you should know heading into Saturday's game.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
- The competition.
HUSKIES VS. ORANGE
- For the seventh time in program history, Northeastern and Syracuse will square off against each other, once again on the campus of Syracuse
- The two teams last met in the 2007-08 season, Bill Coen's second at the helm of the Huskies
- Last time out against the Orange, Northeastern kept it tight in the first half, but the Orange went off in the second half and came away with a 95-74 victory
- The last time that the Huskies faced off against the Orange, two players currenly on the bench as coaches, were on the court
- Manny Adako started at forward for Northeastern, and finished with two points and four rebounds, while Brian McDonald netted two points and a rebound
SCOUTING THE ORANGE
- Syracuse is off to a 5-2 start to the season, and are a perfect 4-0 at the Carrier Dome this year
- Syracuse started the year off with an easy win 66-34 over Eastern Washington, and earned its first road win of the year with a 72-62 victory over Ohio State last Wednesday
- The Orange's two losses came in the 2k Empire Classic against UConn and Oregon at Madison Square Garden
LEADING THE WAY
- Syracuse is led by Tyus Battle who has played and started all seven games for the Orange, averaging 19.1 ppg while tallying 13 assists on the year
- In addition to Battle, Elijah Hughes is averaging 13.7 ppg and leading the way with 13 threes while Oshae Brissett is averging 15.3 ppg and has a team leading 52 rebounds on the year
LAST TIME OUT VS. SYRACUSE
- The Huskies kept up with Syracuse for the entire first half, but a 22-7 run to open the second half sparked the Orange to a 95-74 win
- Northeastern shot 53.6 percent (15-for-28) in the first half and was led by Matt Janning, who scored 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting
- Paul Harris sparked a 6-0 Orange run that gave them a 37-33 lead with 2:54 to play in the first half
- Chaisson Allen tied the game at 42-42 with 38 seconds left on two free throws, but Flynn hit a jumper with three seconds left to give the Orange a 44-42 lead at the break
- Orange took over from there, scoring 22 of the next 27 points to take a 66-49 lead that they would not surrender
- The Huskies shot only 27 percent in the second half, struggling to keep up with the athletic Orange
- Northeastern was unable to overcome a major foul discrepancy as they were called for 22 fouls that led to 25 Orange points.
- Harris led the Orange with 19 points and 15 rebounds, his eighth double-double of the season and he was one of six Syracuse players to score in double digits
- Though the score does not indicate it, the game was close for the most part with nine ties and 14 lead changes
- Giant Killers
- In the last six seasons, Northeastern men's basketball has headed out on the road and taken down a handful of Power-5 conference opponents on their home or neutral turf
- The Huskies are 6-6 overall in the last five seasons against Power-5 opponents

- Bringing Back the Offense
- Heading into 2018-19, Northeastern returns 90.4 percent of its offense from 2017-18, a number that ranks 13th in the nation
- The majority of the offense lost was in part to departing senior Devon Begley who averaged 6.3 ppg in 2017-18
- Northeastern returns a pair of double-digit scorers in Vasa Pusica (17.9 ppg) and Shawn Occeus (10.8 ppg)
- The Huskies will face two teams who actually return more returning offense this season beginning with Harvard (99.4) on Friday night while also facing Syracuse (93.8) on Dec. 4
