BOSTON– The Northeastern men's basketball team is back in the home confines of Matthews Arena and set for a Saturday afternoon showdown with Oakland University at 4 p.m. on NESN.

The two teams will meet on Ugly Sweater Day at Matthews, and for the third time in program history. This coming as the first time in Boston.

A win on Saturday will break the series tie between the two teams (1-1). Here are some other things you should know heading into Saturday's game.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:

  1. Huskies vs. Grizzlies

  • For the third time in program history, Northeastern and Oakland will square off against each other, for the first time on the campus of Northeastern
  • Last time out, the Huskies outlasted the Grizzlies finishing on a buzzer beater to win the game 61-59

SCOUTING THE GRIZZLIES
  • Oakland is off to a 4-5 start to the season, winning  one game already against a CAA opponent when they defeated James Madison 77-69 at home
  • The Grizzlies have been on the road for the last two games, facing a tough opponent in Xavier (L, 73-63), but improved to 1-2 on the season on the road, edging Fairfield 87-86 the last time out
  • Oakland started the year off with a tough at home loss against Toledo, losing by just one point 87-86
  • The Grizzles were selected to finish fourth in the Horizon League

LEADING THE WAY
  • Oakland is led by Xaiver Hill-Mais who has played and started all eight games for the Grizzlies, averaging 25.3 ppg while pulling down 49 rebounds on the year
  • In addition to Hill-Mais, Jaevin Cumberland is averaging 14.6 ppg and leading the way with 19 threes while Braden Norris has 38 assists on the season to go along with a 9.5 ppg average

  1. Last time vs. Oakland

  • With time expiring, T.J. Williams hit a falling down, buzzer-beating jumper to help the Northeastern men's basketball team to a 61-59 victory over Oakland
  • Williams' shot would go on to be the No. 1 play on SportsCenter's Top-10
  • With the win, the Huskies handed Oakland it's first home loss of the season and improved to 2-0 in the state of Michigan during that week to close out the non-conference season with a 7-5 record.
  • Williams finished the game with 22 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and five steals, notching his eighth 20-point game of the season, third double-double of his career and second of the season, and his first career buzzer-beating shot
  • Maxime Boursiquot gave the Huskies a hefty 36-27 halftime advantage as the freshman finished with a career best 16 points and eight rebounds, 10 of which came in the first half
  • Anthony Green added eight points on 4-of-5 shooting to go along with five rebounds and a career-high tying three blocks

  1. Last time out for the Huskies

  • Northeastern started the week off with a Tuesday night contest at Syracuse, their second meeting with an ACC program this season
  • The Huskies were neck and neck with the Orange until the final four minutes of the first half, when Syracuse used a 9-0 run to end the half, holding the Huskies scoreless for the final four minutes, to take a lead Northeastern wouldn't be able to overcome
  • The second half wasn't very friendly for the Huskies, as the team shot just 32.1 percent from the field and 12.5 percent from deep en route to a 72-49 loss to the Orange
  • Tomas Murphy led the way for the Huskies with 17 points and eight rebounds on the night, while Donnell Gresham added 10 points and three assists
  • Syracuse's leading scorer Tyus Battle was held to just one basket while Oshae Brissett led the way with 21 points and 14 rebounds for the Orange
