NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. -- Freshman
Tyler Madden had a season-high four points (one goal, three assists) and
Lincoln Griffin added three helpers to pace the No. 13/12 Northeastern men's ice hockey team (10-3-1, 6-1-1), which erupted with five goals in the third period to head into the holiday break with a 7-2 victory on the road at Merrimack (4-12-1, 2-8-0) on Saturday night at Lawler Rink.
The win gives Northeastern an 8-1-1 mark in its last 10 games and makes it winners of six straight, the longest active streak in the NCAA. The Huskies also head into the holiday break with a 6-1-1 mark in Hockey East play, currently tied for third place in the league standings, and gives NU 10 wins before Christmas for the second straight season.
Seven different players found the back of the net for the Huskies, while 11 recorded at least one point.
Jeremy Davies and
Patrick Schule gave the visitors the 2-0 lead late in the first period before Cole McBride brought Merrimack within one in the final minute of the opening frame.
Cayden Primeau (27 saves) and the Northeastern defense weathered the storm during a second period that was controlled by the Warriors. But the final 20 minutes was all Huskies, who scored five times to put the game out of reach.

Jerry Keefe meanwhile, will miss the tournament to represent Team USA at the 2019 World Junior Championships in Vancouver.
