BURLINGTON, Vt. – A three-goal second period and 29 saves from
Cayden Primeau helped the No. 12/11 Northeastern men's hockey team (19-8-5, 13-6-2) to a weekend sweep at Vermont on Saturday night at Gutterson Fieldhouse, 4-1.
The win secures home ice for Northeastern in the Hockey East quarterfinals for the first time since 2009, and the Huskies can finish anywhere from first to third in the final Hockey East standings. The conference quarterfinals will be held the weekend of Mar. 9-11 at Matthews Arena. Tickets to the playoffs are now available by visiting

Adam Gaudette scored twice for Northeastern to bring his NCAA leading point total to 50 on the season, while
Eric Williams and
Biagio Lerario also scored for the visitors.
After trailing 1-0 after one thanks to a Matt O'Donnell goal from the slot, the Northeastern offense came to life in the second period with three goals from three different scorers. Williams tied the game at one during a delayed penalty call on UVM when he took a feed from Gaudette pinching in the point before Stefanos Lekkas (22 saves) five-hole.
Lerario potted his second of the year two minutes later on a one-timer from between the hashmarks, before Gaudette extended the Huskies lead to two with 8:14 to go in the period when he ripped a shot from the slot through traffic for his 26th of the year.
The score would remain that way until late in regulation when Gaudette put the game on ice with his second of the evening into the empty net.
The Huskies will be back in action next Friday for Senior Night at Matthews Arena as Northeastern hosts New Hampshire at 7 p.m. Tickets are available by visiting tickets.GoNU.com.
