Prior to the game, the Northeastern men's basketball team will honor Devon Begley, the lone member of the Huskies' 2018 senior class!

Trip to Charleston: For the students that entered our season-long contest to win two free flights to Charleston, South Carolina, to watch the Huskies compete at the 2018 CAA Men's Basketball Championship, you must be in attendance to win. So come on out on Senior Night!  


BOSTON – The Northeastern men's basketball team takes its five-game win-streak into the regular season finaly when the Huskies take on Towson Thursday night at Matthews Arena at 7 p.m.
 
Prior to the game, Northeastern will honor senior Devon Begley in a pregame ceremony.
 
Last time out, the Huskies picked up no only their 11th home win of the season but also a season-sweep of William & Mary. The 11 wins are the most at home in the Bill Coen era (10-2 in 2006-07) and the most by the Huskies at home since going 12-2 in 1994-95 (one postseason win).
 
Vasa Pusica laid in the game-winning basket at the buzzer en route to a 69-67 victory over William & Mary Saturday afternoon finished with a team-best 19 points. Maxime Boursiquot added 13 in the win going 5-for-5 in the first seven minutes of action and hitting a clutch three down the stretch.
 
NOTABLES
• This is the 98th season of Northeastern men's basketball
• Northeastern earned win #1200 at Delaware (Feb. 8) and now has an all-time record of 1,203-1,100 (.522) in 2,303 games
• The Huskies are 388-257 (.602) all-time in conference play including a 130-87 (.599) record since joining the CAA in the 2005-06 season
• Northeastern amassed 12 regular season conference championships and eight tournament titles including a 2015 CAA title which sent NU to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 24 years
Bill Coen is in his 12th season as the leader of the Huskies and since taking the reins, NU has accomplished the best win pct. amongst current CAA teams in conference and CAA tourney play with a 131-101 all-time mark
• The Huskies are 12-4 in the CAA and are currently in second place heading into the final weekend of the regular season. This squad was chosed to finish sixth in the CAA preseason poll (more on page 5)
• The Huskies named a new director of athletics and recreation last Wednesday morning as Jeff Konya will take over for Peter Roby on February 1
Shawn Occeus currently leads the CAA in thefts this season with 1.93 steals per game, and has done something no Husky had done since 2012
• The Huskies have been turning it up during conference play and rank in the top-two in many categories midway through the conference season
                                            
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
• Towson is 18-11 heading into the final weekend of the regular season
• After dropping a Saturday afternoon contest against the Huskies 12 days ago, the Tigers went 1-1 last weekend defeating Delaware at home before falling to James Madison
• After falling in their season opener, the Tigers went out on a 10-game win streak, the longest in the CAA, to start their season off on the right foot
• Towson is 4-7 on the road this season, including a 3-4 mark in CAA games
 
LEADING THE WAY
• Towson is led by Zane Martin who is averaging 19.7 points and 3.6 rebounds a game while adding 67 assists and 23 steals on the season
• Brian Starr has dished out a team-high 76 assists on the year while adding 8.5 ppg
• Mike Morsell has added 14.2 ppg while making 28 steals for an evenly balanced squad
 
ALL-TIME SERIES
• This will be the 28th meeting between the two teams with the Huskies holding the series lead 22-15
• Northeastern is looking for its first regular season sweep of Towson since the 2014-15 season
 
LAST TIME VS. TOWSON
• The Tigers made it interesting early in the second half, but Northeastern came away with a 77-62 victory at Towson's SECU Arena for their 10th conference win of the season
• An 11-point halftime lead grew into as much as a 17-point second half advantage thanks to 72.2 percent shooting from the field in the second half by the Huskies en route to the victory
• After Mike Morsell made it a six-point game, 59-53, with just under eight minutes to go, the Huskies went out on a 10-0 run holding Towson scoreless for three-and-a-half minutes
Vasa Pusica sealed the run, and ultimately the win, with a dagger of a 3-pointer from NBA range
• Pusica once again led the Huskies with his third-straight 20-point effort with 23 points, four rebounds and four assists on the day
Devon Begley tied his best effort of the season with 14 points and eight rebounds, and Bolden Brace added 10 points, including a pair of clutch threes
 
THE LAST TIME OUT
• The Huskies earned their fourth-straight victory with a 75-69 win over Drexel to kick off a three-game homestand to end the home season at Matthews Arena
• The Huskies earned the wire-to-wire victory, never allowing a lead to the Dragons and avenging a one-point loss suffered at Drexel earlier this season
Vasa Pusica finished with his fourth-straight 20-point effort and 12th of the season netting 24 points in just 27 minutes of action while Anthony Green tied his career high with 16 points on a career-best eight field goals in just 20 minutes of play
• Tramaine Isabell, who was held to just five first half points, also finished with 24 points on the night
• The Huskies kept the win-streak going with an exiciting 69-67 victory over William & Mary on Saturday afternoon
• Pusica laid in the game-winning basket at the buzzer as NU came away with the season sweep of William & Mary for the first time since the 2012-13 season
• Pusica finished with 19 points on the day while Maxime Boursiquot broke out for 13 points, including a 5-of-5 effort in the first seven minutes of action, and a clutch three to help the Huskies back into the game down the stretch
 
LOOKING FOR 20
• Heading into Thursday's game, the Huskies have a 19-9 overall record and will be looking for their 20th win of the season
• A win would give the Huskies their first 20-win season since 2014-15, when the Huskies went 23-12 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament
• The 20-win season would be:
                  • The fourth of the Bill Coen era
                  • The 15th in program history
 
CELEBRATING OUR SENIOR
• Northeastern's lone senior Devon Begley will play in his final game at Matthews Arena on Thursday night
• Begley played in his 100th career game on Dec. 9 at home against Vermont, and has currently taken part in 118 career games
• The Pearland, Texas native passed the 500-point mark on Dec. 5 against Bucknell collecting his 500th, 501st and 502nd career points appropriately on a three from the corner
• He currently has 633 career points or 5.4 ppg
 
MILESTONE WINS
• For the fourth-straight season and the fifth time in the last six seasons, NU has notched at least 15 victories
• The 15th win, came over UNCW (Feb. 3) and since then the Huskies have added a few more, for the most wins since the 2015-16 season
• Northeastern also earned its 10th conference victory against Towson on Feb. 10
• The 10 CAA wins mark the fifth time during the Bill Coen-era that the Huskies have recorded double-digit conference victories and the most since the 2014-15 season (12-6)
• In addition, the Huskies picked up their 11th home victory on Saturday afternoon against William & Mary
• The 11 wins are the most at home in the Bill Coen era (10-2 in 2006-07) and the most by the Huskies at home since going 12-2 in 1994-95 (1 postseason win)
 
MATTHEWS MAGIC
• In their 11 victories at home this season, the Huskies outscored their opponents 876-734 or by 12.9 points per game
• The Huskies have lost to two teams in the old barn, both in CAA play, falling by just one point to Hofstra (Jan. 2) and five points to Charleston (Feb. 1)

• Holding Wentworth to 49 points marked the first game NU held an opponent to under-50 points since a 47-44 victory at Towson on Feb. 11, 2016 while the 34-point win tied the second-largest of the Bill Coen era (79-45 win over Drexel on Jan. 9, 2008) and was the largest since a 36-point victory over Delaware last season
• The Huskies have now recorded a 30-point victory in the last three seasons

• The Huskies were picked to finish sixth in the CAA in 2017-18 by the conference's coaches
• Charleston was picked to win the league while Towson was second and Elon was chosen to finish third
