BOSTON – Northeastern women's soccer head coach
Ashley Phillips announced Thursday that goalkeeper Sarah Deighan has been added to the Huskies' 2018 incoming class. Deighan joins
Amanda Ahles,
Michaela Joyce,
Audrey Lee,
Olivia McKenelley,
Grace Michael,
Grace Moore,
Tatiana Ortega and
Ashley Reuter in Northeastern's nine-member freshman class.
"Sarah will be a fantastic addition to our already competitive goalkeeping group," Phillips explained. "She is competitive, hard-working and excited to push herself on a daily basis."
A native of Wanaque, New Jersey, Deighan joins the Northeastern family from Lakeland Regional High School, where she starred as a three-sport athlete. On the pitch, Deighan was named First Team All-Conference and First Team All-County in 2016 and 2017, while helping her team to two county championships (2016, 2017) and one league title (2017). Deighan posted 14 shutouts in 2017 and allowed only 11 total goals in 27 matches.
Additionally, Deighan was named the Passaic County Student-Athlete of the Year and was named a finalist for the North Jersey Soccer Player of the Year in 2017. Deighan also excelled in the classroom as her school's valedictorian and served as her class vice president in 2018.
The Huskies open the 2018 regular season on Aug. 17 vs. Connecticut at Parsons Field.
