Men and women tab 25 PRs at Joe Donahue Games

The track and field team dominated their second home meet of the season

BOSTON --  In their first home meet of 2019, the Northeastern track and field team tallied 25 personal bests to command the competition at the Joe Donahue Games on Friday afternoon. 

The field competitors highlighted the men's side with Ugonna Anuonyemere taking first in the high jump with a personal best height of 1.89m. Andrew Cannistraci and Spencer McKeough took first and second in the shot put with throws of 17.10m and 16.23m, respectively. 

The distance runners saw the most personal records broken with Alexander Korczynski (4:13.62), Eric Clay (4:14.21), Dan Romano (4:17.51) and Cameron Dickson (4:18.94) all finishing with a career-low time in the 1 mile. Additionally, Ben Weingart (8:45.13), Matthew Schaefer (8:46.92) and Steve Flanagan (8:48.04) finished in quick succession in the 3k, all registering their personal bests. 

Brandon Moorer (49.60) and Donatien Djero (50.42) moved their way up the season indoor performance list with their times in the 400m, taking first and second, respectively. 

The women's 14 personal bests on Friday were recorded across nine events at Reggie Lewis Center. In the sprints, Patrice Williams took first in the 60m with her personal best run of 7.81. Moreover, Williams took another first-place finish in the 200m with her season best time of 25.15. Taking second and third behind Williams in the 200m were Khailah Griffin (25.83) and Katie Hanlon (26.23) who both tabbed their PRs on the track. 

Sydney Salas lit up the track for the distance team with a first-place finish in the 3k, also recording a personal best time of 9:54.36. Taking second, third and fourth were Bridget Foote (9:56.11), Aparna Alavilli (10:11.44) and Louiza Wise (10:15.03), respectively. 

Leeyan Redwood (13.72m), Priscilla Senoo (12.86m) and Zoe Taitel (12.66m) took the top three spots in the shotput. Abigail Cousens also threw her farthest of her career in the shotput with 9.13m.

On January 25 and 26, the Howlin' Huskies will compete at the BU Jon Thomas Invitational.
