Ruffo qualifies for Olympic Marathon Trials

CHICAGO— Northeastern women's track & field and cross country alumna Kerri Ruffo qualified for the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials with a time of 2:43:35 at the Chicago Marathon today.
 
Ruffo made her marathon debut in Chicago and her time is under the 2:45:00 threshold needed to qualify for the trials. The U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials will be held on February 29, 2020 in Atlanta, Ga. The top three finalists from that event will then represent the USA at the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020.
 
Ruffo holds the Northeastern record for fastest 10000m (34:32.79) and is a two-time NCAA qualifier in the same event. Additionally, Ruffo was a 2019 CAA Championship gold medalist in the 5000m and the 10000m.
