BOSTON – The No. 15/14 Northeastern men's hockey team welcomes No. 4/4 Massachusetts to Matthews Arena on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. for the Huskies' 2019-20 home opener. Prior to puck drop, Northeastern will unveil its 2018-19 Hockey East Championship banner in a pregame ceremony.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW

1. Assemble the (U)Masses: Northeastern opens their home slate against Hockey East rivals, the Massachusetts Minutemen. The Huskies enter the contest with the advantage in the all-time series, going 55-29-10 (.638) against UMass. Last time the two teams met on the ice, Northeastern claimed the W at home, besting the Minutemen 2-1 in overtime off a shot from Tyler Madden just 1:12 into the period.

2. Sweet Home Matthews Arena:  The Huskies have seen a successful run in home openers at Matthews Arena, posting a 48-30-8 record all-time on home ice. Since the 2010-11 campaign, Northeastern has posted a 12-4-3 mark in their first games of the season at home. After falling in their home opener last season to Union, the Huskies hope to get back in the win column this weekend for the first time since the 2017-18 season, when they bested Sacred Heart in a dominant 7-3 victory.

3. You love to "sweep" it: Men's hockey returns to Matthews Arena with a 2-0-0 record after sweeping the Union Dutchmen on the road last weekend. Four different players scored goals across the series, with freshmen Riley Hughes (1-0-1) and Jeremie Bucheler (0-1-1) recording their first collegiate points.
