BOSTON – After bouncing back into the win column last weekend with a 3-1 win over Merrimack, the No. 14 Northeastern men's hockey team (5-3-2, 2-2-1 Hockey East) returns to the ice for a home-and-home against No. 10 Providence (5-3-2, 3-2-1 Hockey East) this weekend, Nov. 15-16. The Huskies will open the series on the road Friday at Schneider Arena at 7:15 p.m, before returning to home ice on Saturday for an 8 p.m. puck drop.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW
  1. Scouting Providence - The Huskies ready for a home-and-home series against the No. 10/10 Providence Friars this weekend, Nov. 15-16, marking the teams' first meeting of the 2019-20 season. Heading into game one, Providence holds the 55-87-17 advantage in the all-time series against the Huskies. The last time the teams met, the Friars claimed a shutout over Northeastern at Matthews Arena. But, with a win this weekend, the Huskies would shatter the Friars' recent six-game series unbeaten streak and earn their first W against Providence since 2016. Picking up their first win since a 6-2 decision against Boston College on Oct. 25, the Friars took down Boston University, 6-5, last weekend at Schneider Arena. Leading the charge for Providence, sophomore Jack Dugan posted a team-high four assists on the night. Following close behind, Max Crozier finished with three points off two goals and one assist. Dugan currently leads the team in points with 24 (5G, 19A). Additionally, the Friars enter the weekend leading the conference on the power play (32.6%) and in scoring (4.10 G/GM).
  2. Penalty kill prowess - Northeastern enters this Friday's contest as the top-ranked Hockey East program on the penalty kill. Boasting a 92.9 penalty kill percentage, the Huskies PK unit has killed off 39 out of 42 opponent power-play opportunities.
  3. Point-scoring prospects - Vancouver Canucks prospects Tyler Madden and Aidan McDonough led goal scoring for the Huskies last weekend, combining for three power-play goals on the night. With his pair of goals, McDonough recorded his first multi-point game of the year. The duo currently leads the team in power-play goals, with three apiece so far this season. Additionally, the Canucks prospects pair is tied for third in the conference and seventh in the nation in extra-man goals. Madden is also ranked fifth in the conference in power-play points, with seven through the first 10 games (3G, 4A).

The Huskies look ahead to a two-game home stand against Maine next weekend, Nov. 22-23. Puck drop for both contests is set for 7 p.m.
