BOSTON -
Jordan Roland scored a game-high 29 points and
Maxime Boursiquot added eight points and seven rebounds as Northeastern (2-2) dropped a non-conference battle to former Colonial Athletic Association foe Old Dominion (3-1), 76-69, on Saturday inside Matthews Arena. The loss snaps an eight-game home court winning streak for the Huskies.
Roland, the nation's leading scorer, went 10-for-19 from the floor and recorded a four-point play in the first half. ODU shot 51 percent (30-for-59) in the game and outrebounded Northeastern, 36-26, including 14 offensive boards that led to 11 second-chance points. The Monarchs have won five of the last six games against the Huskies.
ODU led for over 36 minutes in the game, but a 3-pointer by Roland late in the first half tied the game at 23. After trailing by eight early in the second half, Roland connected on a three and Boursiquot made a nice fade away jumper to get the Huskies within three, 41-38, with 17:03 left in the game. The Monarchs countered with a 17-10 run over the next nine minutes to seize control of the game.
Xavier Green, reigning C-USA Player of the Week, led ODU with 24 points on 10 of 18 shooting. Jason Wade tallied 18 points on 9 of 11 shots, and Malik Curry finished with 11 to round out double-figure scorers for the Monarchs.
