Jordan Roland scored a single-game record 42 points on 13-of-19 shooting, and
Tyson Walker added 15 points to lead Northeastern (2-0) past Harvard (1-1), 84-79, in the men's basketball home opener on Friday night at Matthews Arena. The Huskies shot 58 percent (11-for-19) from behind the arc and led by as many as 17 points in the first half.
Roland becomes the first player since J.J. Barea to score 30 or more points in consecutive games, tallying 39 in the opener at Boston University. He has an NCAA-best 81 points in two games this season.
Walker, a freshman point guard from Westbury, N.Y., went 6-for-11 from the floor and did not commit a turnover in the game, adding one assist. Roland led the Huskies on the glass, grabbing six rebounds, while Illinois transfer
Greg Eboigbodin finished with five boards.
Harvard had three players in double figures, led by Noah Kirkwood's 18 points off the bench. Each team committed 10 turnovers in the game.
