BOSTON – The No. 12 Northeastern men's hockey team (10-5-2, 6-4-1 Hockey East) welcomes Dartmouth (4-3-1, 4-2-1 ECAC) to Boston this Saturday for an afternoon non-conference tilt. The meeting marks the first time the two teams have met on the ice at Matthews Arena since 1999. Puck drop is set for 4 p.m., and the contest will be broadcast on NESN.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW
1. Seeing Green – The Huskies close out the first half of the 2019-20 campaign this Saturday with a non-conference tilt against ECAC opponent Dartmouth. This weekend's meeting marks the first time the teams have met on the ice since the 2013-14 season and the first time the Huskies have hosted the Big Green since 1999. Last time the puck dropped between Northeastern and Dartmouth, the teams finished with a combined 16 goals in a 8-8 tie in overtime at the now titled Ledyard National Bank Classic. Although Dartmouth enters the weekend with a 31-26-1 advantage in the all-time series, the Huskies have seen success in the last three decades against the Big Green, posting a 7-2-1 record in the last 10 contests.
Dartmouth enters the weekend off a recent 2-1 upset over then #2 Cornell in conference action. The win marked their first win over a ranked opponent since the first round of the 2019 ECAC tournament, when they bested No. 12 St. Lawrence, 8-0, and their first win over a top-3 opponent since the 2017-18 campaign, when they took down then #2 Clarkson, 3-2. Sophomore Drew O'Connor leads the Big Green in scoring through their first eight contests, posting team highs in all three scoring categories. Between the pipes, senior Adrian Clark has posted a 2.51 GAA and a .915 save percentage in his seven appearances this year.
2. Going Streaking - Four Huskies -
Matt Filipe,
Ryan Shea,
Zach Solow and
Jayden Struble - currently hold active point streaks heading into the weekend. Senior Shea holds a team-leading eight game point and assist streak. Following closely behind is junior Solow with six games then Filipe and Struble, who are tied with four apiece.
3. Point-Scoring Blue Line - Defensemen
Ryan Shea and
Jordan Harris currently rank in the top-10 in the conference in defenseman scoring. Milton, Mass. native Shea ranks second in Hockey East through 17 games with 16 points off of two goals and 14 assists, while Harris is tied for sixth in the conference in defenseman scoring with 11 points off three goals and eight assists.
