BOSTON – Northeastern senior guard
Jordan Roland has been named to the Oscar Robertson Trophy watch list, announced by the USBWA on Thursday. Roland, a native of Syracuse, N.Y., reached 1,000 points in his career on Wednesday night and is second in the country in scoring at 25.1 points per game.

Roland is one of the most efficient scorers in the country, shooting 55 percent from the floor and 47 percent from behind the arc. He is 1 of 2 players from the Colonial Athletic Association on the watch list, joining William & Mary's Nathan Knight.

A 6-foot-1 guard, Roland leads the country with 226 points and is No. 10 in 3-pointers made per game (3.7). He has scored 20 or more points in six games this season, including a single-game record 42 as the Huskies beat Harvard, 84-79, on Nov. 8.
Since its founding in 1956, the USBWA has named a national player of the year. In the 1997-98 season, the award was named in honor of the legendary Oscar Robertson, "The Big O." In addition, the USBWA selects an All-America team and All-District teams, players and coaches of the year.
The 2019-20 Oscar Robertson Trophy will be presented at the NCAA Final Four in Atlanta in April. The winner will be also be honored at the annual USBWA Awards Luncheon at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis on Monday, April 13, 2020.Â
