BOSTON – Fresh off their 2019 Friendship Four championship, the No. 8/12 Northeastern men's hockey team (10-4-2, 6-3-1) is set for a crosstown clash against Hockey East rival Boston University (5-6-5, 3-3-4) this Saturday, Dec. 7 at 7 p.m.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW

1. Battle for Top Dog – The Huskies are headed down to Commonwealth Avenue to take on crosstown conference rival Boston University this Saturday at 7 p.m. Looking for a win this weekend, Northeastern hopes to chip away at the Terriers' 165-63-10 lead in the all-time series. After tying the Terriers in a 5-5 decision at home and dropping a 4-1 result on the road last season, the Huskies bounced back to claim back-to-back wins over Boston University to close out the series, taking down BU in the opening round of the Beanpot and during the Hockey East tournament. A win over the Terriers would extend the Huskies most recent winning streak against the conference foe to three games.

Heading into this weekend, the Terriers are coming off of a 5-2 win over nationally-ranked Harvard at Agganis Arena. Leading BU in the upset was senior Patrick Harper, who posted a goal and three assists in the victory and currently ranks second on the team in total points (19). Through the Terriers first 16 games, David Farrance leads the BU squad with 21 points off 10 goals and 11 assists. Most recently, Farrance dished out two assists in the Terriers win over the Crimson. Between the pipes, graduate transfer Sam Tucker has been leading the charge for BU, appearing in all but one game for the Terriers this year. Through 15 games, Tucker is averaging a 2.60 GAA and a .912 save percentage.

2. Mad(d)e in November - After posting 17 points off seven goals and 10 assists last month, Tyler Madden was tabbed November's Hockey East Player of the Month. The monthly honor marks Madden's first since joining the Huskies last season and his second conference recognition of the 2019-20 slate. The Huskies' leader in goals and points, Madden was an offensive catalyst for the Huskies last month, exploding for a seven-game point streak, a career-first hat trick and matching his previously set career-high four points last month. Additionally, the Deerfield Beach, Fla. native ranked first on the Huskies in multi-point games across the team's last 10 contests, recording four.

The forward closed out the month tied for first in the nation in goal scoring with 12 goals and third in points with 22. Madden also ranks third in the conference in point scoring with 1.38 points per game and is tied for first in goal scoring.

Last week, Madden was named the Hockey East Player of the Week as well as the NCAA Second Star of the Week for his efforts on the ice.

3. Shea My Name - Following a five-point weekend at the 2019 Friendship Four, Ryan Shea was named the Hockey East Player of the Week (Dec. 2). In game one of the Friendship Four, Shea led the Huskies with three points off a goal and two assists. The senior continued his scoring run on Saturday, dishing out an assist before claiming the Belpot for the Huskies on a game-winning shorthanded empty-net goal. For his performance during the Friendship Four, Shea was tabbed the Player of the Tournament.

In addition to his Player of the Week nod, Shea was also tabbed the NCAA Second Star of the Week.
