CHARLESTON, S.C. – Exhibiting a complete team effort on Friday evening, the Northeastern women's basketball team drove to victory against College of Charleston with its pedal to the floor as the Huskies dominated all statistical categories en route to prevailing, 87-56, at TD Arena.

Feeling under the weather before tip-off, Gabby Giacone persevered to a memorable night on the court for Northeastern (14-5, 4-4 CAA), which picked up its first road win of the conference season.

Giacone battled her way to team highs in points (19) and rebounds (10), shooting eight-for-12 from the field while recording a block and a steal. With her second field goal of the game, the senior from Delmar, New York, became the 21st player during Northeastern women's basketball history to surpass 1,000 career points – departing with 1,016.

Jess Genco powered the Huskies' masterful ball movement, racking up half of the Huskies' program record (tie), 24 assists. Genco – whose three career 12-assist games rank exclusively in a tie for the second most by a Northeastern player – finished with seven points, two rebounds and two steals.

NU rookies Kendall Currence and Samantha Michel set career scoring highs with 15 and six points, respectively. Ayanna Dublin paired 11 points with six rebounds while Stella Clark contributed 11 points and three steals off the bench.

Northeastern enjoyed its best shooting game under the leadership of fifth-year head coach Kelly Cole, knocking down 55 percent of its attempts from the field. The Huskies outhustled College of Charleston (5-14, 1-7 CAA) to the +30 advantage in points in the paint (56-26) in addition to scoring 33 points off the Cougars' 22 turnovers.

NU started the game with the quick, 9-2 scoring run, but settled to win the narrow opening quarter, 22-18, at the horn. After allowing Charleston to pull within a point at 22-21, the Huskies staged the 19-3 scoring run, commanding a 17-point edge (41-24) with 3:29 remaining in the first half.

Defensively, Northeastern limited the Cougars to 30 percent shooting during the second half, where the Huskies outgained their opponent, 46-25.

Charleston's Deja Ford led all scorers with 20 points, hauling in seven rebounds.
