BOSTON – Riding the double-double performances of seniors Gabby Giacone and Jess Genco, the Northeastern women's basketball team navigated past Towson, 77-68, on Sunday at Cabot Center, securing the split of the two teams' regular season series while posting its 15th victory of the year.

Giacone excelled during her season high, 33 minutes on court, shooting 10-for-14 from the field en route to posting 20 points, 12 rebounds, two steals and a block. The NU forward compiled her sixth double-double of the season, eclipsing the 20-point threshold for the third time during her career and the first time since Feb. 25, 2018, at College of Charleston.

Genco paired 16 points with 11 assists, connecting five times with Giacone in addition to hitting two 3-pointers. The Huskies' all-time assists leader (499) – who has now dished out more than 10 assists for the second time during her last four games – achieved her fifth career double-double and the fourth such one to feature the assists category.

Kendall Currence provided Northeastern (15-7, 5-6 CAA) with 16 points off the bench, helping the NU reserves outgain those of the Tigers, 25-14. Shannon Todd rounded out the Huskies' corps of four double-figure scorers, registering 10 points, six rebounds, two assists and a steal.

Possessing a one-point lead (17-16) at the end of the first quarter, Northeastern compiled an 18-6 scoring run to begin the second quarter, prompting Towson (13-9, 7-4 CAA) to call timeout at the 3:34 mark with the Huskies' leading, 35-22.

Exiting halftime with the 10-point advantage (39-29), Northeastern locked down defensively, holding Towson to five points of offense during the opening seven minutes of the third quarter. Stella Clark's 3-pointer midway through the period provided the Huskies with the 46-34 lead, which translated into the 55-46 edge at the quarter break.

Northeastern built as high as a 16-point lead with 5:10 remaining in regulation, although the Tigers would remain competitive down the stretch, closing within five points (73-68) during the final minute. The Huskies played the last 2:35 of the game without Genco, who fouled out for the first time during her collegiate career (112th appearance).

Nukiya Mayo finished with 20 points to lead Towson while Ryan Holder matched 12 points with 12 rebounds. Qierra Murray tallied 11 points for the Tigers.
