BOSTON –
Departing frigid New England, the Northeastern baseball team will set out for a four-day, four-game weekend in sunny southern Florida beginning on Thursday, Feb. 21, as the Huskies sandwich regular season games against Missouri (Feb. 21) and South Dakota State (Feb. 23-24) around their annual spring training exhibition game against the Boston Red Sox (Feb. 22).

WATCH NU AT SPRING TRAINING

• Friday's exhibition game between Northeastern and the Boston Red Sox will air live on NESN with coverage beginning at 1 p.m. Viewers within the Boston television area may watch NESN's coverage via Boston 25.
• Northeastern baseball alum and 14-year MLB veteran Carlos Peña will sit in as NESN's color analyst alongside play-by-play announcer Dave O'Brien. Peña hit .324 across his 100 collegiate appearances for the Huskies, totaling 21 doubles, three triples, 24 home runs and 93 RBIs during the 1997 and 1998 seasons. The Texas Rangers selected Peña with the 10th overall pick during the 1998 MLB Draft – the highest draft pick achieved by a Northeastern player during program history.

HUSKIES vs. MISSOURI
• Northeastern is tied, 2-2, during its all-time series against Missouri. The two teams split their inaugural series – a four-game, Friday-to-Sunday weekend set – at City of Palms Park during Feb. 2018.
• The Huskies' two 2018 wins against Missouri marked the program's first and second all-time against the SEC.
• Tyler Brown struck out seven batters and walked none across six innings during his game two start against the Tigers (Saturday's doubleheader opener). Despite departing in line for the win, Missouri rallied for five runs during the bottom of the seventh inning to lead, 7-4, yet the Huskies responded with six runs during the final two innings to earn the dramatic, 10-8 victory.
• Sean Mellen, Brandon Dufault and Andrew Misiaszek combined to limit Missouri to two runs of offense during the Sunday series finale as Northeastern scored the 4-2 win.
• Jake Farrell co-led the Huskies with seven hits during the series along with Charlie McConnell (13th round pick, 2018 MLB Draft). Farrell was also one of three NU players who homered (Scott Holzwasser, Ryan Solomon).
• Solomon totaled four RBIs during the series, hitting a two-RBI double during game two and a two-run homer during game four.

HUSKIES vs. BOSTON RED SOX
• Northeastern will be competing for its first-ever victory against the Boston Red Sox during the two sides' 17th exhibition game to date.
• The Huskies first opposed their professional city mate on April 11, 1977, at Fenway Park, despite receiving the 10-2 defeat from the Red Sox.
• Northeastern has been Boston's annual spring training guest since 2004. After making appearances at City of Palms Park from 2004 to 2011, the Huskies co-opened JetBlue Park with the Red Sox on March 3, 2012.

NOTABLE HUSKIES-RED SOX MOMENTS
• 2015:  Future 2016 third round MLB Draft pick Aaron Civale struck out a series record, four Red Sox batters: David Ortiz, Hanley Ramirez, Mike Napoli and Xander Bogaerts. As a staff, Northeastern registered a series record, 10 strikeouts. Scheduled as a seven-inning game, Northeastern tied the game at 1-1 during the top of the seventh inning, when Isaac Lippert scored the tying run on an errant Boston throw. The Red Sox proceeded to walk off during the extra eighth inning, earning the 2-1 victory.
• 2017:  Northeastern scored a series record, six runs, during the first nine-inning spring training game contested between the two sides. The Huskies scored two ninth-inning runs and proceeded to bring the potential tying run to the plate, despite Boston successfully fielding the game-ending groundout.

HUSKIES vs. SOUTH DAKOTA STATE
• Northeastern will be opposing South Dakota State for the first time during program history.

SEASON-OPENING RECAP
• Junior shortstop Scott Holzwasser led Northeastern with six hits during its 2019 season-opening, three-game series at Houston Baptist. Holzwasser knocked two doubles and a triple, scored four runs and stole a base.
• Redshirt-freshman Corey DiLoreto hit .625 while making his first three Northeastern appearances, scoring four runs while registering three RBIs. DiLoreto redshirted during his 2018 season at NU.
• Northeastern broke through for an eight-run fifth inning during its 14-8 victory (Feb. 16), capitalizing on six hits and one defensive error.
• Sean Mellen tossed six scoreless innings during the Feb. 17 rubber match and exited the game in line for the win (2-0 lead), despite Houston Baptist rallying for five unanswered runs against the NU bullpen.
