BOSTON -- This past Sunday, the Northeastern men's and women's indoor track and field team participated in the BU Last Chance Invitational at Boston University. The meet served as a final opportunity for athletes to achieve times/scores good enough to qualify for postseason meets, such as the ECAC/IC4A and NCAA Championships. The Huskies sent 19 men and 13 women to the event, coming away with five and 12 top-10 finishes apiece.

Kailah Griffin excelled for the women, placing second in the long jump (5.81m) and sixth in the 200m (24.63), while Michelle Nkoudou and Paige Suse both earned first-place scores, Nkoudou in the 60m hurdles (8.73) and Suse in the high jump (1.67m).

Beyond Griffin and Suse, Northeastern found plenty more success in the field events. Eliana Sirkin and Bridgette Muller placed third and fifth in the pole vault with heights of 3.36m and 3.21m, respectively, while Erica Belvit (16.49m) and Lauren Swanson's (15.14m) weight throws earned the Huskies two more top-10 finishes at sixth and ninth place.

Furthermore, Jaliyah White and Hannah Meredith leaped their way to eighth and ninth place distances in the triple jump, soaring 11.51m and 11.29m, respectively. Rounding out the top-10 finishers for the women were Sydney Salas in the mile (sixth place, 5:01.49) and Melissa Fairchild in the 3000m (10th place, 10:07.41).

The men at the meet found their success in the track events, highlighted by Connor Donovan and Austin Lin taking home the top two spots in the 500m. Donovan's time of 1:04.32 placed first, with Lin trailing behind in second by less than a tick at 1:04.89.

Donatien Djero and Naukym Morton continued their excellence in the 60m, timing in at 6.73 and 6.92 to take first and fourth place, respectively.

The other top-10 finish for the men came from David Adams, who earned seventh in the 60m hurdles with his time of 8.30.

Looking ahead, the Howlin' Huskies will head back to Boston University for the ECAC/IC4A Championships next weekend. The meet will take place over three days, starting Friday, March 1 and ending Sunday, March 3.
