BOSTON– The Northeastern men's basketball team is headed out on its final road trip of the regular season, kicking off the weekend at Delaware Thursday night at 7 p.m.

The Huskies are looking to avenge a double overtime loss to the Blue Hens that happened at Matthews Arena during the first weekend of CAA action, on the final week of the regular season.

Here is what you need to know about Thursday's game:

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:

  1. Checking in on the Blue Hens

  • Delaware enters Thursday's game with the Huskies off of a road loss to Drexel last weekend
  • The Blue Hens are 16-13 overall and 8-8 in conference play this season
  • Delaware is 9-5 at home this season, winning five of their seven home conference games, falling only to Charleston and Towson

LEADING THE WAY
  • Delaware is led by Ryan Allen who is averaging 16.3 ppg while redshirt senior Eric Carter is putting up 16.0 points and 10.1 rebounds per game
  • Also netting double figures are two more Blue Hens including Ithiel Horton (12.0, 3.0 rpg), and Kevin Anderson (10.4)
  • Anderson is leading the way with 93 assists this year

ALL-TIME SERIES
  • This will be the 57th meeting between the two teams in a series that Delaware leads 29-27
  • The Huskies have won seven out of the last nine contests between the two teams, including all three last season
  • Last season, Northeastern came away with a 12-point victory at home, barely came away with a three-point victory at Delaware and trounced the Blue Hens in the CAA Tournament, 74-50
  • Northeastern is looking to avenge Delaware's double OT victory from the opening weekend of CAA play on the final weekend of the regular season

  1. Hands all the way off

  • One of the team's most versatile players, Donnell Gresham has stepped into any and every role asked of him by head coach Bill Coen
  • When Vasa Pusica missed time, Gresham became the Huskies' main ball handler
  • This season Gresham's control of the ball is evident in his assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.23 which ranks third in the conference and 66th nationally this season
  • With Shawn Occeus missing time, Gresham has been giving the assignment of defending the CAA's best perimeter players, including Justin Wright-Foreman, Stuckey Mosely, and more
  • Even with that assignment, Gresham has committed the least amount of fouls among CAA players
  • His 1.65 fouls committed per 40 minutes ranks first in the CAA and 50th nationally

  1. One of the Winningest

  • Head Coach Bill Coen, in his 13th season as leader of the Huskies, has registered 147 career conference victories (regular season and tournament)
  • Since he joined the CAA, his 58.33 win pct. (see sidebar) ranks at the top of the league
  • Coen has been climbing up the all-time CAA wins list and his 147 wins currently ranks fourth all-time
  • Coen needs just one more win to tie Blaine Taylor (Old Dominion, 11 seasons) for third all-time (see sidebar)
