WILMINGTON, N.C. – Facing a 15-point deficit at the start of the fourth quarter on Sunday at UNCW, the Northeastern women's basketball team roared back to pull within six points with six and a half minutes remaining in regulation, despite needing more ammunition down the stretch as the Huskies were handed the 83-70 defeat at Trask Coliseum.

Shannon Todd scored 11 of her team high, 18 points, during the fourth quarter, where Northeastern (14-6, 4-5 CAA) blitzed UNCW (13-7, 6-3 CAA), staging an 11-2, quarter-opening scoring run to trim the Huskies' deficit to 64-58 at the 7:22 mark.
Katie May followed a minute later with a long 2-pointer to maintain the game's six-point score line at 66-60, but the Seahawks responded with 10 unanswered points to put the game out of reach.

Jess Genco delivered 10 points, three rebounds, five assists and two steals for Northeastern, which witnessed nine of its players finish in the scoring column for the second consecutive game. NU rookie
Kendall Currence paced the NU bench with 10 points while fellow first-year
Alexis Hill contributed seven points and eight rebounds.

Outside of tied scores at 2-2 and 4-4, UNCW played the duration of the game with the lead. Northeastern erased a 10-point deficit during the second quarter courtesy of three consecutive 3-point baskets by Todd, Currence and
Zoe Zwerling – together bringing the Huskies within a point at 34-33 with roughly two minutes remaining in the first half.

UNCW knocked down 57 percent of its attempts from the field – the highest field goal percentage that the Huskies have conceded during the 2018-19 season. GiGi Smith (20 points) was one of four double-figure scorers among the Seahawks' starting five along with Shrita Parker (19), Lacey Suggs (15) and Chinyere Bell (14).
