NEWARK, Del. – With four players scoring in double figures, the sixth-seeded Northeastern women's basketball team rolled by third-seeded UNCW, 75-64, during Thursday's quarterfinal round of the 2019 CAA tournament at Delaware's Bob Carpenter Center, advancing to the program's second semifinal game during the last four seasons (2016).

Shannon Todd had the Huskies off to the races during the first half, where she logged 13 of her 16 points and knocked down three of her four 3-pointers. Todd scored eight consecutive points during the first quarter to put NU in front, 12-8 – a lead the Huskies would never relinquish during the remainder of the contest.

Senior point guard Jess Genco scored 13 of her team high, 22 points, at the free throw line, where Northeastern (20-10) combined to shoot 22-for-28. Genco and Todd posted identical six-rebound and five-assist lines while Genco added three steals to her final tally.

With the victory, the Huskies advanced to their second CAA semifinal game as a league member (since 2005-06) and their second as a No. 6 seed. Like during its previous semifinal trip during 2016, Northeastern will again oppose second-seeded Drexel, against which NU will be seeking its first win during the 2018-19 season.

Freshman forward Alexis Hill offloaded a career high, 16 points, during her postseason debut, making eight of her 11 attempts from the floor. Hill also brought down the team rebounding high (eight) while blocking three shots.

Gabby Giacone charted 11 points and five rebounds for the Huskies while Ayanna Dublin contributed seven points, five rebounds and four assists.

UNCW (18-12) jumped out to the early, 6-2 lead after Lacey Suggs and Ahyiona Vason had drained a pair of 3-point baskets. Vason finished with the game high, 24 points, shooting nine-for-13 from the floor and five-for-eight from downtown.

Northeastern closed the first quarter on the 18-4 scoring run and never looked back, carrying the 34-21 lead into halftime and building as large as a 20-point lead with six minutes remaining in regulation.
