BOSTON – The Northeastern men's basketball team was selected as a No. 13 seed in the Midwest Region and will face No. 4 seed Kansas in a second round NCAA tournament matchup on Thursday, March 21, in Salt Lake City, Utah, as announced Sunday during the NCAA selection show.
This will be Northeastern's first-ever meeting against Kansas in program history. The Jayhawks (25-9) finished third in the Big 12 Conference standings and advanced to the conference title game, before falling to Iowa State in the final. Ranked No. 17 in the latest AP Poll, Kansas is led by All-Big 12 First Team selection Dedric Lawson, who is averaging 19.1 points and 10.3 rebounds per game.
Tickets will go on sale
at 8 p.m. for the Northeastern community only. For alumni, donors, faculty/staff, season ticket holders, and parents of students tickets cost $100, plus a $5 handling fee, and are good for all games in the session.

The 2019 CAA Champion Huskies (23-10) locked up their NCAA Tournament spot with an 82-74 victory over Hofstra on Tuesday night. Northeastern returns to its second NCAA Tournament in the last five seasons (2015) and will compete in their ninth NCAA Tournament in program history.

Vasa Pusica scored 21 points against the Pride in the CAA final, on a career best seven 3-pointers, and was named the Tournament's Most Outstanding Player. Pusica was joined on the All-Tournament team by junior
Shawn Occeus.

Bill Coen will be guiding the Huskies to their fifth postseason appearance (2009 CBI, 2010 NIT, 2013 NIT, 2015 NCAA) since 2006. This is Coen's ninth appearance in the Big Dance, and second as a head coach. Coen previously helped Rhode Island make two tournament appearances as an assistant coach (1993, 1997), while helping Boston College to five tournaments as an assistant/associate head coach (2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006).
The Huskies have appeared in the NCAA tournament eight times before, including six appearances in the 1980s, before qualifying a seventh time in 1991 and returning to the tournament for the first time in 24 seasons back in 2015. NU is 3-8 all-time in the competition with its last win coming in the 1984 Preliminary Round against No. 11 seed Long Island (90-87).
