CONWAY, S.C. – Jake Farrell's eighth-inning, three-run home run on Saturday morning provided the Northeastern baseball team with the spark it needed to dig out of its six-run deficit against Indiana, despite the Huskies receiving the 6-4 defeat at Springs Brooks Stadium during their second game of four at the 2019 CCU Baseball Tournament (hosted by Coastal Carolina).

Farrell's home run – his second during as many games – spoiled Pauly Milto's bid at a shutout after the right-hander had denied Northeastern (4-4) a run through seven and two-thirds innings. The senior first baseman was the lone NU batter that managed to swing multiple hits against Milto, who struck out seven and walked two across his eight-inning line.

Cam Walsh opened the ninth inning with a bunt single against the Hoosiers' closer, Connor Manous, advancing to second on a wild pitch and the remaining two bases via consecutive fly balls – the latter of which came off the bat of freshman outfielder Jared Dupere. With two outs and the bases clear, Ian Fair pinch hit for Michael Geaslen, making his 2019 debut despite being unable to prolong the NU rally.

Indiana (5-4) began the game with consecutive three-run innings against the Huskies' right-hand starter, Tyler Brown, who allowed nine hits but struck out four during his five-inning outing.

Logan Kaletha hit a two-run home run as the Hoosiers' third batter at the plate while singles by Matt Lloyd and Ryan Fineman led to Cole Barr's RBI groundout that put Indiana in front, 3-0. The Hoosiers proceeded to bring eight batters to the plate during the second inning, swinging four hits en route to doubling their lead to 6-0.

Northeastern had trouble deciphering Milto, who retired 12 consecutive batters from the third through seventh innings. Tom Githens relieved Brown to begin the sixth inning, limiting Indiana to one hit across three innings of work.
