WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Receiving equal contribution from the mound as it did from the batter's box on Saturday, the Northeastern baseball team racked up 15 strikeouts and 13 hits during its 9-4 victory at William & Mary, winning its seventh straight series meeting against the Tribe and clinching its second straight road series at Plumeri Park (2017).

Northeastern (12-10, 2-0 CAA) benefitted from another commanding start by Sean Mellen, who struck out nine batters across six innings while limiting William & Mary (14-6, 0-2 CAA) to two runs and three hits. The NU southpaw retired the first two batters that he faced during five occasions despite conceding respective two-out, RBI doubles to Zach Pearson and Kyle Wrighte during the first and second innings.

Brandon Dufault earned the nine-out save while protecting Mellen's third victory of the season (3-0), sandwiching three-strikeout innings around Pearson's eighth-inning, two-RBI single.

Michael Geaslen accounted for three of the Huskies' four doubles, going three-for-four and scoring twice out of the eighth spot in the NU lineup. Geaslen doubled home Cam Walsh during the fourth inning to break the game's 2-2 tie, later registering another RBI double during Northeastern's three-run eighth inning.

Farrell matched Geaslen's three-hit afternoon, cracking an RBI double during the Huskies' three-run seventh inning. Ian Fair and Jake Rosen both recorded multiple hits as well for Northeastern, which finished with double-digit hits for the 10th time this season.

The Huskies capitalized on five William & Mary errors during the day that resulted in three unearned runs – two of which crossed the plate during the first inning.

Wade Strain lasted six and one-third innings for the Tribe, tossing five strikeouts before NU loaded the bases against him during the seventh inning.

Northeastern has won seven of its last eight games.
