BOCA RATON, Fla. – Racing out to the 3-0 lead on Saturday at Florida Atlantic, the Northeastern baseball team was unable to win its back-and-forth affair against the Owls as the Huskies received the 9-6 defeat during game two of the sides' three-game weekend series at the FAU Baseball Stadium.

Northeastern (5-8) plated the game's first three runs all with two outs during the top of the third inning.

With Jeff Costello and Scott Holzwasser both in scoring position, Jake Farrell knocked a two-RBI single to center field to break the game's scoreless tie. Corey DiLoreto proceeded to move Farrell over to third base with the Huskies' third hit of the inning prior to catching himself in the 2-6-3-4 rundown that allowed Farrell to cross the plate.

Florida Atlantic (8-7) earned a run back against Brandon Dufault during the third inning, but did the majority of its damage during the fourth inning. Mitchell Hartigan, Jacob Josey and Eric Rivera hit consecutive RBI singles against the NU right-hander, sliding the Owls in front by a run, 4-3.

Opposing Florida Atlantic's bullpen, the Huskies flexed their power during the middle innings to retake the lead. Ian Fair and Jared Dupere connected on solo home runs during the fifth and seventh innings, providing the Huskies with the 5-4, late-game lead.

Kyle Murphy picked up the first two outs of the seventh inning, but the Owls staged a two-out rally of their own, swinging three hits. Jared DeSantolo tied the game at 5-5 with his RBI single that scored Andru Summerall, two batters before Joe Montes put Florida Atlantic ahead, 7-5, courtesy of his two-RBI base hit up the middle.

Ryan Solomon brought the Huskies within a run at 7-6 during the eighth inning, doubling home DiLoreto from second base, although the Owls proceeded to tack on two insurance runs before Zach Schneider earned the three-out save.
