ELON, N.C. – Staging a 38-4 scoring run during the first half of Saturday's league game at Schar Center, the Northeastern women's basketball team built an insurmountable lead against Elon as the Huskies cruised past the Phoenix, 83-57, during both teams' regular season finale.

As a team, NU shot 54 percent from the field, drained seven 3-pointers and shot 22-for-25 at the foul line while limiting Elon (9-20, 4-14 CAA) to 38-percent shooting from the floor.
Jess Genco led Northeastern's cast of double-digit scorers, tallying 15 points and recording eight of the Huskies' 19 assists. Rookie guard
Alexis Hill unloaded a career high, 14 points, off the bench while her first-year teammate,
Kendall Currence, paired 10 points with seven rebounds.
Ayanna Dublin scored 14 points in addition to collecting nine rebounds – both personal-best marks during the 2018-19 CAA season.
Shannon Todd matched 12 points with three rebounds and three steals while
Gabby Giacone funneled in 10 points and blocked three shots.
After Elon had opened the game with six unanswered points, Northeastern went into overdrive, turning a six-point deficit into a 28-point lead. The Huskies made nine of their 12 first quarter shot attempts, rushing out to the 22-10 lead by the end of the first quarter before keeping the Phoenix off the scoreboard for the opening seven and a half minutes of the second quarter.
Elon reduced Northeastern's second half lead to as low as 13 points with 2:47 remaining during the fourth quarter, but the Huskies hit 11 of their final 12 free throws to seal the win.
As the No. 6 seed in the 2019 CAA tournament, the Huskies will oppose third-seeded UNCW during the league quarterfinal round on Thursday, March 14, at the Bob Carpenter Center in Newark, Delaware. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
