BASEBALL BEANPOT AT FENWAY PARK
• Fenway Park – the birthplace of the Baseball Beanpot in 1990 – has hosted the most tournament games (68) among any ballpark during the event's 30-year history.
• From 1990 to 2003 (with the exception of the 2000 tournament), Fenway Park was the exclusive site of the Baseball Beanpot, which hosted the tournament most frequently during consecutive days in mid-April or early May.
• Since 2005, Fenway Park has been the tournament's most common field utilized for the tournament's final round (nine occasions).
Â
HUSKIES AT FENWAY PARK
• Northeastern is making its 43rd appearance at Fenway Park, where the Huskies have posted a 20-21 record during collegiate games. NU was invited to play the Boston Red Sox on April 11, 1977, despite receiving the 10-2 defeat that day from the pro club.
• The Huskies are 17-17 when competing during Baseball Beanpot games at Fenway Park and are seeking their first such victory since the 2013 championship game, when Northeastern defeated Massachusetts, 6-3, to win its sixth and most recent title.
Â
NU-BC AT FENWAY PARK
• Northeastern is 5-7 when opposing Boston College at Fenway Park (4-7 during the Baseball Beanpot).
• Arguably the most noteworthy win across program history, the 1966 Huskies punched their ticket to the College World Series courtesy of their 10-2 victory against BC at Fenway Park during the NCAA District I championship game. Northeastern had defeated Colby, 5-4, during the District I semifinals before earning the right to advance to Omaha, where NU opposed St. John's and Arizona.
• Northeastern and Boston College share one prior consolation game appearance at Fenway Park – the Huskies lost to the Eagles, 9-8, in seven innings during the 1998 tournament.
• NU and BC last met at Fenway Park during the 2007 championship game, on by the Eagles, 2-0 (eight innings).
HUSKIES, EAGLES ROUND TWO
• Northeastern defeated Boston College, 4-2, on March 19 at Friedman Diamond. Both teams accounted for 10 hits apiece.
• Five NU pitchers combined to throw 12 strikeouts, including four each from starter
Kyle Murphy (three innings) and closer
Andrew Misiaszek, who collected the four-out save.
•
Corey DiLoreto provided the RBI triple that put the Huskies in front for the final time during the first inning. He,
Jake Farrell and
Jeff Costello each sported two hits.
• Northeastern went three-for-four during stolen base attempts against the Eagles' catcher, Peter Burns.
• The Huskies are seeking their first multi-game season sweep of Boston College since 2014.
