BOSTON -- For the second straight year and 12th time in program history, the Northeastern Huskies (38-20) will be making an appearance in the NCAA Baseball Tournament. The Huskies, back-to-back champs out of the Coastal Athletic Association, will head to Lawrence, Kansas, for the regional round of the tourney.
The Huskies overcame a loss in game one of the CAA Tournament, but made a 4-0 run through the losers' bracket to claim their second straight CAA Tournament title, defeating No. 1 seed Campbell in back-to-back games. It'll be NU's first back-to-back CAA Championships in program history, and the first back-to-back appearances in the NCAA Tournament since 1972 and 73.
Northeastern will face off with No. 15 national seed Kansas and potentially No. 3 seed Missouri State or No. 2 seed Arkansas in the following days. The Jayhawks are 40-16 this season under head coach Dan Fitzgerald and are hosting an NCAA regional for the first time in program history after winning both the Big 12 regular-season and tournament titles.
The Razorbacks, led by longtime head coach Dave Van Horn, are perennial College World Series contenders with 12 CWS appearances, and enter the tournament at 36-19 (17-13 SEC) ranked No. 22 nationally. The Bears (34-19) are making their 13th NCAA regional appearance and first since 2022, earning an at-large bid on the strength of a No. 23 RPI while competing in their first season in Conference USA after a 35-year run in the Missouri Valley Conference.
The weekend kicks off for Northeastern at 1 p.m. ET on ESPN+ with a matchup against the hosting Jayhawks. It'll be just the second meeting of the two programs on the diamond, and the first since 2015.
