BOSTON -- Continuing their busy outdoor schedule, the Northeastern men and women's track and field team split up for another trio of meets this weekend, recording a combined 40 outdoor personal bests and eight all-time program outdoor top-10 performances.
 
The highlight of the weekend was Erica Belvit, who broke the school record in the shot put for the second straight week at the UConn Northeast Challenge. After throwing for 60.64m last week to break the near 23-year standing record, the junior improved upon that distance by almost a meter and a half, recording a distance of 62.04m and placing second in the event.
 
The SCSU Northeast Combined Event Challenge took place on Thursday and Friday in New Haven, Connecticut, with three Huskies attending. Kurt Robakiewicz (5572 pts) and Hayden Kilpatrick (5118 pts) competed in the decathlon, placing 10th and 16th, respectively. Julia Marshall scored 4092 points, placing seventh in the heptathlon.
 
Friday saw 16 men and six women head to Providence, Rhode Island for the Ocean State Invitational. 
 
Christian Stafford earned the Huskies' only gold medal at the meet, placing first in the 5000m with a time of 14:33.26. Northeastern was well represented on the leaderboard in the event, with Steven Flanagan (14:43.46) joining Stafford on the podium in second and Matthew Schaefer (14:50.91) and Michael Duggan (14:51.71) finishing sixth and seventh, respectively.
 
Connor Donovan earned sixth in the 800m (1:51.98), while in the 3000m steeplechase Eric Clay (9:25.06) placed third and Tyler Miller placed eighth (10:24.43). Alexander Korczynski finished eighth in the mile, moving into seventh on the all-time program outdoor performance list at 4:11.18.
 
Aparna Alavilli earned bronze in the 5000m (17:36.71) on the women's side, with Louisa Wise finishing just behind her in fourth at 17:38.43. Kerri Ruffo (5:03.66) and Kelsey Walak (5:09.49) competed in the mile, earning the second and third places, respectively, on the all-time program outdoor performance list.
 
Belvit was one of 21 Northeastern women that joined 20 men at the UConn Northeast Challenge in Storrs, Connecticut on Saturday. Fellow thrower Monae Cooper also competed in the hammer throw, coming in at fourth with a 51.92m throw that is good for sixth all-time on NU's outdoor performance list.
 
Another throwing event, the shot put, saw more Husky history. Priscilla Senoo moved into fifth on the all-time outdoor performance list with her throw of 14.57m, placing fourth. Leeyan Redwood trailed close behind, earning fifth with a 14.30m throw. In the discus throw, Zoe Taitel finished fourth with a distance of 44.23m.
 
Kailah Griffin earned bronze in the long jump (5.74m), while Paige Suse finished in the same place in the high jump (1.67m). Eliana Sirkin and Bridgette Muller were two of five athletes to record 3.38m in the pole vault in places 2-6, earning t-fourth and sixth, respectively, by way of tiebreaker.
 
David Adams dominated on the men's side, earning two gold medals in the hurdle events. First, the junior moved into seventh on the all-time program outdoor performance list in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.48, before championing the 400m hurdles in 52.21. Jordan Samuels also impressed in the hurdles, placing fourth (14.73) in the 100m hurdles.
 
In the standard 100m, Dametrius O'Connor placed fifth with a time of 10.73 that is good for a tie for eighth on the all-time program outdoor performance list. Naukym Morton followed seven hundredths of a second behind him, finishing sixth at 10.80.
 
Spencer McKeough (16.50m) and Cole Stewart (15.77m) earned third and sixth, respectively, in the shot put, while Adams, Donatien Djero, Morton, and O'Connor teamed up to earn victory in the 4x100m relay with a time of 41.09m.
 
Up next, the Howlin' Huskies will host their first outdoor meet of the season this upcoming weekend at the Jay Carisella Coaches Invite on Saturday. Some athletes will also travel to Charlottesville for the Virginia Challenge the same day.
