Moreau, Slaney and Huskies Complete Day One Of CAA Championships

ELON, N.C. – The Northeastern track and field team wrapped up day one of the CAA Outdoor Championships with four individual medalists, including gold medalists Aidan Moreau and Ryan Slaney. The men's team sits in first place after the opening day, while the women are in 10th.
 
Combined Events

  • In the decathlon, freshman Carter Engleman finished day one in first place with 3,187 points. Engleman placed second in the 100m, long jump and high jump.
  • In the heptathlon, sophomore Elena Olson finished the day in tenth place with 2,674 points and sophomore Madison Phillips finished with 2,347 points.
 
Field Events
  • Freshman Elin Rydqvist placed seventh in the women's hammer throw with a mark of 52.36m.
  • Senior Hailey Romero took sixth in the women's javelin with a throw of 36.84m.
  • Northeastern dominated the men's hammer throw, led by junior Aidan Moreau, who captured the conference title with a toss of 58.02m. Sophomore Zackery DelSasso earned silver with a throw of 56.42m. Graduate student Tremain Robinson placed fourth at 54.84m, while freshman Logan Alfandari finished eighth with a mark of 49.77m.
  • Freshman Matthew St. Cyr earned bronze in the men's javelin with a throw of 62.72m.
  • Junior Alexander Yuen placed fourth in the pole vault, clearing 4.60m. Freshman Nathan Epstein and senior Kevin Xu each cleared 4.30m to finish sixth and seventh, respectively.
 
Track Events
  • Graduate students Lucy Abdow and Stephanie Kriss both advanced to the women's 1500m final, placing ninth (4:32.64) and 12th (4:33.64).
  • Four Huskies qualified for the men's 1500m final: sophomore Jack Mattingly (3rd, 3:50.97), junior Ryan Sarney (4th, 3:57.90), senior Patrick Cantlon (7th, 3:51.17), and sophomore Jacob Redman (9th, 3:51.50).
  • Sophomore Elena Olson advanced to the women's 100m hurdles final after placing eighth in 14.43.
  • Freshman Aiden Ray finished ninth in the men's 110m hurdles prelims with a time of 14.65.
  • Sophomore Morgan Hayward qualified for the women's 400m final with a fifth-place finish in 55.07.
  • Junior Savannah Blair advanced to both the 100m and 200m finals, placing second in the 100m (11.57) and clocking 23.74 in the 200m.
  • Three Huskies moved on to the men's 100m final: sophomore Taeshawn Berry (2nd, 10.52), junior Brunner Williams (5th, 10.61), and freshman Raymond Felton III (8th, 10.60).
  • Senior Conall Rogers qualified for the men's 800m final with a third-place finish in 1:52.22.
  • Aiden Ray also advanced to the men's 400m hurdles final, placing fifth in 52.44.
  • In the men's 200m, Williams (4th, 20.96), Felton (5th, 21.28), and Berry (6th, 21.29) all earned spots in the final.
  • Sophomore Anna Lonergan placed 10th in the women's 3,000m steeplechase in 11:35.11.
  • Junior Ryan Gruckza (6th, 9:29.91) and graduate student Kyle Sarney (8th, 9:52.80) scored in the men's 3,000m steeplechase.
  • Graduate student Kyle Slaney closed out the evening with a conference title in the men's 10,000m, winning in 29:40.52.
  • Freshman Dawson French added four points with a fourth-place finish in 30:07.49.

 
Northeastern returns to action tomorrow, May 15, for the final day of the CAA Outdoor Championships.
