BOSTON -- The Northeastern men's and women's track and field teams closed out the regular season this past weekend in low key fashion, with only 20 total athletes taking part in a pair of meets.
On Saturday,
Paige Suse and
Zhane Goode traveled to Easton, Mass. for the Stonehill Skyhawk Invitational. Suse championed the high jump with a dominant 1.73m, her best of the season, while Goode took home third in the triple jump at 11.06m.
The other 18 Huskies, six men and 12 women, attended the Brown Springtime Invitational in Providence, R.I. on Sunday.
Spencer McKeough took first place in the shot put (16.57m), with
Andrew Cannistraci following close behind in second place (15.41m). Both men also took part in the discus throw, with Cannistraci (43.07m) earning third to McKeough's (40.40m) fifth.
Cole Stewart placed fifth in the shot put (13.45m), in addition to winning silver in the hammer throw (41.37m).
Travis Kartz took home victory in the pole vault with a height of 4.80m.
Leah Saifi also won gold in the pole vault on the women's side, recording a height of 3.50m.
Eliana Sirkin (3.35m) and
Bridgette Muller (3.20m) also participated in the event, placing fourth and fifth, respectively.
Leeyan Redwood,
Priscilla Senoo, and
Zoe Taitel all competed in both the shot put and the discus throw, with no one finishing lower than fourth in either event. Redwood placed second in the shot put (14.66m), while Senoo (13.64m) took third and Taitel (13.55m) fourth. The order reversed in the discus throw, with Taitel (45.49m), Senoo (42.79), and Redwood (39.85) earning second, third, and fourth, respectively.
Two more women medaled in the hammer throw, as
Erica Belvit (55.33m) garnered silver and
Monae Cooper (53.46m) took bronze with a new personal best. Kaitlyn Cavallaro placed fourth in the javelin throw, launching a distance of 32.50m.
With the regular season in the rearview mirror, the Howlin' Huskies will now shift their focus to the postseason, starting with the CAA Championships on Friday and Saturday in Elon, N.C.
