TOWSON, Md. – Despite Ian Fair's career high, four-RBI effort on Saturday, the Northeastern baseball team lost its home run battle against Towson at Schuerholz Park as the Huskies were defeated, 11-6, during their final game of the regular season.

With the result, Northeastern (26-27, 12-12 CAA) ended the CAA regular season in a three-way tie for third place, marking the Huskies' fourth top-three finish under fifth-year head coach Mike Glavine. Regardless of its final seed, NU will oppose UNCW during the first round of the 2019 CAA tournament (hosted by James Madison in Harrisonburg, Virginia) on Wednesday, May 22.

Fair reached base four times to lead Northeastern, swinging three hits – none bigger than his two-run home run that put the Huskies ahead, 2-0, during the third inning. Jake FarrellCam Walsh and Michael Geaslen each notched two hits apiece as NU wound up outhitting the Tigers by a 12-7 margin.

Towson (14-39, 7-17 CAA) scored exclusively from its five home runs. Richard Miller halved Northeastern's lead to 2-1 courtesy of his fourth-inning, solo homer, one inning before Noah Cabrera put the Tigers in front, 5-4, with his three-run home run against Brian Rodriguez.

Ryan Solomon knotted the game at 5-5 during the sixth inning, fouling off two pitches before shuttling a solo home run to left field. However, Zach Piazza immediately matched Solomon's homer during the Tigers' leadoff at-bat of the sixth inning, sending Rodriguez's 1-1 delivery to the same part of the ballpark.

Towson broke the game open during the seventh inning when the Tigers earned a pair of three-run home runs from Brad Powers and Jack Rotteveel. Ian Fair plated two ninth-inning runs for the Huskies, rocketing a two-RBI single through the left side.Rotteveel.
