BOSTON - Northeastern will conclude this three-game road swing at Georgia on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. on SEC Network + (
about the SEC Network). The Huskies (1-3) will take on their second opponent collecting votes in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll as the Bulldogs (6-0) are receiving 19 votes in the AP poll.
SERIES AGAINST GEORGIA
This will be the second all-time meeting between the Huskies and Bulldogs. Georgia defeated Northeastern, 79-66, at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta on Dec. 18, 1981. UGA featured two NBA players, Dominique Wilkins and Vern Fleming, and Northeastern featured one, Perry Moss, and Hall of Fame Coach Jim Calhoun.
COEN CHASING HISTORY
Bill Coen enters his 15th season for the Huskies and is eight wins shy of Coach Calhoun's record of 250 wins, set from 1972-86. Coen ranks second all-time in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) history with 163 regular season and postseason wins, behind Miami (FL) head coach Jim Larranaga's 183 at George Mason (1998-2011).
EIGHT WINS VS. POWER CONFERENCES DURING COEN ERA
Under
Bill Coen, the Huskies have picked up eight power conference wins, including most recently against Alabama during the 2018-19 season, 68-52 (11/15/18), in Charleston, S.C. The Huskies are 3-7 over their last 10 games against Power 5 opponents, with wins over then-No. 15 Miami, 78-77 (11/27/15), Michigan State, 81-73 (12/18/16) and Alabama.
The Huskies are actively looking to schedule another non-conference game before CAA play begins against Elon on Jan. 2-3 in Boston.
