BOSTON - Northeastern (1-5) will open Colonial Athletic Association play this Saturday and Sunday against Elon (3-1) inside the Cabot Center on Solomon Court. Both games will tip at Noon and will be televised on NESN + on Saturday and NESN on Sunday.
HUSKIES PLAY 17TH-TOUGHEST SCHEDULE
Northeastern finished the non-conference season with the 17th-toughest schedule in the country. Northeastern faced three Power 5 opponents for the first time since the 2018-19 season, the last time the Huskies made the NCAA tournament.
NORTHEASTERN IN CAA OPENERS
The Huskies have won eight consecutive CAA openers and are 11-4 all-time. Northeastern defeated Elon last season in its league home opener, 77-68, inside Matthews Arena on Jan. 2, 2020. Tyson Walker scored a career-high 32 points in the game on 12-of-17 shooting, posting three steals and two assists. That effort ranks fifth-best in program history for a freshman in any single game.
COEN CHASING HISTORY
Bill Coen needs just eight wins to match Hall of Fame Coach Jim Calhoun's 250 from 1972-86. Coen ranks No. 2 all-time in CAA history with 163 regular season and postseason wins behind Miami (FL) head coach Jim Larranaga's 183 at George Mason from 1998-2011.
A HELPING HAND
Sophomore Tyson Walker leads the CAA with 5.2 assists per game. A native of Westbury, N.Y., Walker ranks eighth in the league by scoring 15.8 points per game and dished out a career-high eight assists at Old Dominion (12/20).
