BOSTON - After a big road sweep over South Florida last weekend, Northeastern (3-3) will travel to the annual Snowbird Classic in Port Charlotte, Fla., for games on Friday-Sunday, Feb. 28-March 1, and Wednesday, March 4. All games will be streamed on FloBaseball.com.
CLEAN SWEEP
The Huskies used strong pitching and timely hitting to earn the sweep over USF last weekend in Tampa, Fla. Junior Sam Jacobsak tossed 8.0 scoreless innings in game two en route to a 2-0 victory, striking out seven, and senior Kyle Murphy threw 5.0 scoreless innings in the opener, striking out eight and allowing just one hit as the Huskies erupted for a 10-0 win, highlighted by a three-run home run by senior Kyle Peterson as he drove in a game-high four runs.
In the nightcap, freshman Sebastian Keane earned his first collegiate victory, working 5.0 innings, scattering five hits and three runs, while junior catcher Teddy Beaudet went 2-for-5 with two RBIs to lead the offense in the 7-5 win.
SNOWBIRD CLASSIC
The Huskies are playing in their fourth consecutive Snowbird Classic and will face Villanova, Saint Louis, Eastern Michigan (twice) and Western Michigan. Northeastern went a perfect 4-0 in 2018 with wins over Presbyterian (6-1), Dartmouth (10-8), Villanova (1-0) and Georgetown (9-5). The Huskies finished 2-1 last season, with a sweep over South Dakota State (12-9, 13-7) and fell to Villanova (2-1).
GLAVINE REACHES WIN 150
Head Coach Mike Glavine reached 150 career wins with the opening game win over USF last Friday night. In his sixth season on the bench, Glavine has led the Huskies to a program-best 152 wins during a five-plus year stretch and a winning percentage of .529.
CENTENNIAL SEASON
The Huskies are celebrating their 100th season of baseball at Northeastern University this year. Throughout the season NU will post memorable moments, recognize distinguished alumni and teams, and the centennial celebration will culminate during the weekend of May 8-10, when the Huskies host their Alumni Weekend festivities around their home CAA series with preseason favorite UNCW at Friedman Diamond.
UP NEXT
The Huskies will remain in Florida to take on Florida Atlantic for a three-game series from Friday-Sunday, March 6-8 in Boca Raton. Game time on Friday is set for 6:30 p.m.
