BOSTON - Northeastern's
Zach Solow has been named captain, while
Grant Jozefek,
Austin Goldstein,
Collin Murphy and
Jordan Harris have been named alternate captains for the 2020-21 season, Fernie Flaman Head Men's Hockey Coach
Jim Madigan announced Tuesday.
Solow's leadership has been on full display throughout his career and was named an assistant captain last season as a junior. He helped lead the Huskies to three consecutive Beanpot championships and was awarded the MVP trophy last season after tallying a goal in both games against Harvard (2/3) and Boston University (2/10). Solow ended the season with two separate streaks of a goal in four-straight games and finished with 30 points (13 goals, 17 assists) on the season. In 111 career games, the Florida native has 33 goals and 47 assists. The Huskies have captured three consecutive Beanpot titles, made two NCAA tournament appearances, won a Hockey East and Belpot championship during Solow's career.
Jozefek
received a medical hardship waiver from the NCAA earlier this offseason and will return for a fifth season and first as an alternate captain. The New Jersey native has been a huge part of the Husky offense, tallying eight goals and 10 assists, including a goal in the Beanpot title game against BU and setting up the game-winning goal in the first round of the Beanpot against Harvard. Jozefek is part of the second winningest class in Northeastern history and also has three consecutive Beanpot championships, a Hockey East title, has made two NCAA Tournament appearances and won a Belpot. The business major has 26 goals and 35 assists over the course of his career.
Goldstein missed last season due to an injury, but has played in 50 games with two goals and six assists during his career. The redshirt junior has two years left on his eligibility and had an assist as a freshman on the Huskies game-winning goal in the Beanpot Championship game and the game-winning overtime goal in game one of the Hockey East quarterfinals against Maine in 2019. Goldstein also has been a part of three consecutive Beanpot championships, a Hockey East title, two NCAA Tournament appearances and a Belpot championship.
Murphy is a rising senior who has played in 44 games on the blue line for the Huskies with a pair of assists. The Massachusetts native has all the accolades as his other classmates with three consecutive Beanpot championships, a Hockey East title, two NCAA Tournament appearances and a Belpot championship in which he had an assist in the championship game.
Harris is a third-round draft pick of the Montreal Canadiens and has played in 72 career games for the Huskies, tallying 30 points. This year's Unsung Hero Award winner had the biggest goal of this past season with a power play goal in double-overtime to defeat Boston University in the Beanpot Championship game and give the Huskies their third straight Beanpot title for the first time in school history. Harris played for the U.S. National Junior Team earlier this year.
