ALBANY, N.Y. – Northeastern women's basketball assistant coach Whitney Edwards has been named the head coach at The College of Saint Rose, as announced on Monday.

Edwards assisted on Northeastern head coach Kelly Cole's staff during the previous three seasons, co-leading the Huskies to national postseason appearances via the 2018 Women's Basketball Invitational (WBI) and the 2019 WNIT.

"I am thrilled for Whitney as she becomes the head coach at Saint Rose," said Cole. "This is a great next step in her coaching career and I believe she will be very successful there. I am appreciative of all the hard work she has committed to building our program at Northeastern."

With Edwards on the Huskies' bench, Northeastern's backcourt vaulted to the top of the CAA, twice leading the league in 3-point field goal percentage (2017-18, 2018-19). Ball control numbers peaked during the Huskies' run to the 2019 WNIT, during which NU posted the league's second highest assists average (15.1) and assist-to-turnover ratio (0.89) against prime competition.

On an individual level, Edwards also played a key role in the positional development of two 1,000-point scoring guards, Jess Genco and Shannon Todd.

Edwards is on track to graduate from Northeastern this June with her master's degree in leadership with a concentration in sports and social change.
