Huskies Add Four to Men's Basketball Roster


BOSTON - Northeastern men's basketball adds four to its incoming recruiting class, announced by head coach Bill Coen on Monday. Joining Coleman Stucke (6-7, 220) as part of this year's class will be Notre Dame transfer Chris Doherty (6-7, 240), J'Vonne Hadley (6-6, 200), Alexander Nwagha (6-8, 215) and Jahmyl Telfort (6-7, 220).

The Huskies are just the fifth program in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) history to make three consecutive championship game appearances, winning the title in 2019. Northeastern is a league-best 11-4 in the CAA tournament since 2015, and have won a CAA-best 146 conference games since joining the league in 2005. Coach Coen is just nine wins shy of tying Jim Calhoun (1972-86) for the most wins by a head coach in program history. Coen ranks second all-time in CAA history with 163 wins in conference and postseason play.

  • Averaged 19.7 points, 12.3 rebounds, 4.5 blocks and 3.1 assists per game during senior season of high school

J'Vonne Hadley

  • Four-time all-state and MVP selection 
  • Competed in the Minnesota Top 20 Senior All-Star Game
  • Scored a single-game school record 54 points at Mahtomedi High School
  • Three-time MVP and all-conference selection in football as a wide receiver

Alexander Nwagha

AAU team: CIA Bounce

  • Helped Orangeville win OSBA Championship, averaging 8.7 points and 7.8 rebounds per game (Teammate with incoming freshman Coleman Stucke)
  • Ranked Top 40 Canadian Class of 2020
  • Scored a career-best 40 points in the club tournament finals, and a career-high 20 rebounds during an AAU game
  • Lettered in track and volleyball, breaking the school record at King's Christian Collegiate in the 100-meter dash (11.89)

Jahmyl Telfort

  • Played with Parc Ex Knights in Montreal Basketball League from 2015-18, earning MVP honors and is a two-time RSEQ first-team selection
