BOSTON - Tyson Walker scored a game-high 23 points, making five of his career-high seven 3-pointers in the second half, while
Quirin Emanga posted a career-best 14 points to lead Northeastern (5-5, 4-0 CAA) to a 67-56 win over Hofstra (6-5, 2-2 CAA) on Saturday inside Cabot Center on Solomon Court. The Huskies made a season-high 15 3-pointers, including 9-for-18 in the final 20 minutes, to earn the series sweep over the Pride.
Jason Strong added 11 points and five rebounds for the Huskies, and
Jahmyl Telfort grabbed a career-high nine rebounds and finished with seven points and four assists.
Shaquille Walters handed out a season-best seven assists to go with seven points and two rebounds.
The Huskies led for a majority of the first half and built a nine-point lead at halftime, 30-21. Hofstra then held the Huskies scoreless for nearly eight minutes to start the second half and took the lead courtesy of a 17-0 run. Walker stopped the run and made three consecutive triples, including two from way downtown, to rally Northeastern to a 16-1 run over nearly seven minutes to take back control of the game. NU outscored the Pride 37-18 over the final 12:44 to earn the victory.
Northeastern attempted 37 threes in the game, the most since taking 36 at Elon on Feb. 23, 2017. The Huskies scored 10 points off Hofstra's 17 turnovers and the nine turnovers for Northeastern is a season low.
Tareq Coburn led the Pride with 15 points, while Jaley Ray tallied 14 and Caleb Burgess finished with 10.
The Huskies are off to a 4-0 start in CAA play for the fourth time in program history, and first since the 2016-17 season. Northeastern will travel to Charleston, S.C. for a CAA series with Charleston on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 16-17, on FloHoops at 1 p.m. both days.
