Michael Kesselring Inks Contract with Edmonton Oilers

BOSTON - Northeastern's Michael Kesselring has signed a three-year entry-level deal with the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League, announced by the organization on Monday. Kesselring, a native of New Hampton, N.H., is a two-year letterwinner for the Huskies and was part of the 2020 Beanpot Championship team. The contract will begin in the 2021-22 season.

"Michael made tremendous strides this season and we thank him for the contributions he made to our program," said Fernie Flaman Head Men's Hockey Coach Jim Madigan. "We wish him all the best in pursuing his professional goals."

The Oilers 2018 sixth round pick had a career-high five goals this season with three assists. The defenseman will end his Northeastern career with seven goals and six assists plus 49 blocked shots in 54 games.

The New Hampshire native will play the rest of the 2020-21 season with the Bakersfield Condors of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Kesselring is the seventh player from the 2020 Beanpot Championship team to sign a professional contract.
