NU's Malgeri Earns CAA Baseball Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. - Northeastern's Ben Malgeri has been named Colonial Athletic Association Baseball Player of the Week, announced by the league office on Tuesday. Malgeri, a centerfielder from Stratham, N.H., collects the honor for the first time in his career.

Malgeri led the Huskies to a sweep over UMass last weekend (18-1, 5-2 and 4-3) by hitting .600 and driving in four runs. He had multiple hits in every game, including a 2-for-4 performance in the opener with two RBIs, and went 4-for-6 in the doubleheader sweep over the Minutemen, with a triple and two RBIs, on Saturday. Malgeri finished with three stolen bases in four attempts over the weekend, and now leads the CAA with 10 this season, 25th in the NCAA.

The 6-foot-2 junior outfielder leads Northeastern with seven multi-hit games this season and increased his batting average to .316. Malgeri is currently riding a four-game hitting streak and the Huskies have won six straight.
