BOSTON - Winners of 10 of its last 11 games, Northeastern (14-6) will host Merrimack (12-14) in a non-conference baseball game this Tuesday at Friedman Diamond. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m. and can be followed on FloBaseball and WRBB 104.9 FM.
POWER SURGE
The Huskies launched eight home runs over their last five games, including four off the bat of Jared Dupere. A redshirt sophomore from Amesbury, Mass., Dupere leads the team and is third in the CAA with seven home runs this season, earning CAA Player of the Week accolades for the second time on Tuesday, April 13.
STREAKING
Starting second baseman Scott Holzwasser continues his on-base streak now at 38 consecutive games, dating back to the 2019 season. Holzwasser is riding a six-game hitting streak and hit .429 over his last five ballgames, with a home run, two doubles and stole five bases in six attempts. He is second all-time in stolen bases with 69, just eight shy of setting a new school record.
Dupere currently holds the longest hitting streak for the team with eight, and posted an impressive 1.100 slugging percentage during NU's 4-1 week, April 6-11, with four home runs and two doubles. Max Viera has missed the last eight games for the Huskies due to an injury, but leads the team with a .378 batting average and is riding a seven-game hitting streak.
HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE
The Huskies are 8-2 this season at home, outscoring their opponents 67-25. Including the Merrimack game on Tuesday, the next 15 scheduled games for Northeastern will be at Friedman Diamond. The Huskies will host CAA foe Delaware this weekend, Friday-Sunday, with Friday and Sunday's games being televised on NESN +.
