Tessa McClain ran the fastest outdoor mile in NU history with a personal-best time of 4:52, to lead the Northeastern women's track and field team at the Ocean State Invitational on Friday night at the Ray Treacy Track.
Abigail Hassman ran the sixth fastest 5K in school history with a time of 17:01.21, earning a 16 second improvement from her previous personal-best, while
Anna Schaller also beat her previous 5K personal-best by 26 seconds (17:30) to finish in the top 10.
Ava Duggan finished first in the women's 800-meter run with a personal-best time of 2:19.56.
Madison Neuner ran the fourth fastest time in NU history in the 3K steeplechase with a personal-best time of 10:55.63 to finish in third place.
Azza Borovicka-Swanson followed suit with the sixth fastest time in NU history (11:03.03) as she finished in fourth place.
Dylan Manning also posted a 41 second personal-best in the men's 5K with a time of 14:48.74.
Back at the UConn Dog Fight in Storrs, Conn.,
Hope Belvit earned a personal-best mark in the women's hammer throw with a distance of 158 feet, 11 inches, beating her previous personal-record by 6.3 inches.
Erica Belvit placed first in the hammer throw with a mark of 210 feet, 2.4 inches, just missing her previous school record by a centimeter.
Caroline Afonso tallied a personal-best in the women's javelin throw with a mark of 104 feet, 7 inches to finish in fourth place, while
Kaitlyn Cavallaro finished in third place with a mark of 109 feet, 3 inches.
Leeyan Redwood placed first in the women's shot put with a distance of 45 feet, 4 inches, while
Trinity Cardillo followed in third place with a personal-best mark of 43 feet, 11 inches.
On the track,
Isabelle Dely finished third in the women's 100-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 15.03, while
Jillian Lombardi placed fifth in the women's 800-meter run with a personal best time of 12.64.
The Huskies will be back in action April 22-24 at the UConn Invitational.
