BROOKLINE, Mass.
- Jared Dupere smashed a two-run game-winning home run in the seventh inning, JP Olson blasted a solo home run in the eighth inning, and right-handed pitchers Brian Rodriguez (1-0) and Brandon Dufault (4 saves) tossed scoreless innings in the eighth and ninth to lead Northeastern (22-6, 10-0 CAA) to a series win over Towson (15-28, 5-6 CAA), 7-4, in game two of this Colonial Athletic Association doubleheader on Saturday at Friedman Diamond. The Huskies took the opening game of the twinbill, 2-1, behind 8.0 scoreless innings from Kyle Murphy (4-0), striking out a career-high 12 batters.

The reigning CAA Player of the Week Dupere finished 4-for-4 with three RBIs and connected on his 11th home run of the season which is second in the CAA. The 12-game winning streak for the Huskies is tied for the second longest winning streak in school history, matching the 1972 squad. The 10-0 start to CAA play is the best in program history, and the 22-6 start to the season is just one shy of tying the all-time record for best start at 23-6 in 1991.

Danny Crossen finished 2-for-4 with a run scored, while Max Viera went 1-for-3 with a sac fly and two RBIs. After failing to reach base for the first time in 45 games in the opener, Holzwasser bounced back with a 2-for-4 performance at the plate, scoring a pair of runs for the Huskies. His 44-game on-base streak is a school record.

RHP Sebastian Keane (3-1) went 6.2 innings in the no decision, scattering seven hits, four earned runs and struck out five. Olson homered for the second time this season and Jeff Costello had a pinch-hit base hit in the seventh inning and scored the tying run on the two-run blast by Dupere with two outs.

The Huskies and Tigers will play the series finale on Sunday at Friedman Diamond. The game will be televised on NESN + and streamed on FloBaseball with first pitch scheduled for 1:05 p.m.
