Huskies Make History with Sixth Consecutive CAA Title

MEN'S RESULTS (PDF) | WOMEN'S RESULTS (PDF) HARRISONBURG, Va. – David Adams was named 2021 CAA Most Outstanding Track Athlete of the Meet after winning four gold medals, including sweeping the 110- and 400-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 14.02 in the 110mHH and a time of 51.96 in the 400 hurdles, while Dominique Biron earned the meet's Most Outstanding Field Athlete after setting the school record in the heptathlon with a score of 5,136 points to lead the Northeastern men's and women's track and field teams at the CAA Outdoor Championships on Saturday at Sentara Park. The men's team won a league-best sixth consecutive championship with a score of 291 points, and the Huskies finished fourth in the women's competition with a score of 97 points.

Adams CAA Meet

The Huskies become the first men's team to sweep the cross country and outdoor track and field championships since William & Mary in 2013. Alexander Korczynski posted a CAA Championship meet record with a time of 8:49.71 to win the men's 3000-meter steeplechase, ahead of teammate Eric Clay with a time of 9:26.18. 
 
Biron earned a runner-up finish in the women's high jump with a mark of 5 feet, 5 inches, while Michelle Nkoudou won the women's 100 hurdles with career-best time of 14.10. Tessa McClain earned a bronze medal with a personal-best time of 4:28.29 in the women's 1500 meters, while Leeyan Redwood won bronze in the women's shot put with a mark of 44 feet, 11.75 inches. 

Biron CAA Meet

Northeastern dominated the podium in the men's 100-meter dash with Donatien Djero claiming first (10.57), Dametrius O'Connor finishing second (10.66, PR) and Naukym Morton finishing third (10.84). In the men's 1500 meters, Bryan Keller ran a personal-best time of 3:49.13 to claim the first-place spot, Tyler Brogan (3:50.43) and Nicholas Young (3:51.19) placed second and third, both recording personal-best times, to lead the Huskies.

O'Connor earned silver in the men's 200 meters with a personal-best time of 21.25, while Djero followed behind in third with a time of 21.53 to capture the bronze medal. Mayowa Osunsami joined his teammate Adams on the podium with a third-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles (14.19, PR) and 400-meter hurdles (53.20).
 
Khailah Griffin ran a time of 12.43 in the women's 100-meter dash to finish in seventh place, while Lucinda Schotts finished seventh in the 800 meters with a time of 2:14.94. Sydney Robinson clocked a season-best time of 57.67 in the women's 400 meters to finish in eighth place. 

The Huskies dominated the men's relays with first-place finishes in both the 4x100 relay and 4x400 relay. In the 4x100 meter relay, Morton, Adams, O'Connor and Brandon Moorer ran a time of 40.63, while Adams, Osunsami, Moorer and Pierre Sylvain won the 4x400 with a season-best time of 3:15.03.
  
Cameron Dickson earned a silver medal in the men's 5,000 meters with a time of 14:15.91, while Max Spencer (1:53.90) and James Pothier (1:54.37, PR) claimed second- and third-place finishes for Northeastern. In the men's high jump, Phillips Magre claimed gold with a mark of 6 feet, 4.75 inches, and Ugo Anuonyemere won bronze with a mark of 6 feet, 2.75 inches.

In the men's pole vault, Thomas Qualter finished second while Travis Kartz finished third, both with a mark of 13 feet, 5.42 inches. In the triple jump, Savion Thompson earned silver with a mark of 41 feet, 0.25 inches, and teammate Lionel Beane's mark of 39 feet, 9.25 inches won a bronze medal. 
 
Zachary Ruiz placed third in the men's shot put (50 feet, 2.50 inches) and men's discus throw (128 feet, 2 inches). In the decathlon, Beane finished second with 5,085 points and Liam Landau finished third with 3,874 points.
