BROOKLINE, Mass. -
JP Olson drove in a career-high five runs, going 2-for-3, Jared Dupere smashed his 14th home run of the season which is tied for fifth in school history, and Jeff Costello hit a grand slam to lead Northeastern (26-6, 14-0 CAA) over Hofstra (15-18, 6-12 CAA), 14-8, in game two of the conference doubleheader on Saturday at Friedman Diamond. Kyle Murphy (5-0) pitched 7.0 strong innings in the opening game today and struck out eight on Senior Day to help the Huskies earn the CAA sweep.

Northeastern's 14-0 start to CAA play is the best in league history, surpassing UNCW's 13-0 start in 2008 and James Madison's 13-0 start in 1998. The Huskies push their NCAA-leading winning streak to 16 and the 26-6 start to the season is the best in program history.

Right-handed pitcher Sebastian Keane (4-1) earned the win, tossing 5.1 innings and struck out one. Scott Holzwasser tied the all-time school record with his 76th stolen base, finishing the game with two, and tied head coach Mike Glavine with his 120th career walk for second all-time in school history. Costello now has three career home runs, and two have been grand slams including his first coming against Delaware on March 29, 2019.

The Huskies used an eight-run second inning to bust the game wide open, highlighted by a grand slam from Costello and two-RBI single by Olson. The eight runs scored were the most in an inning by Northeastern since scoring eight in the fifth inning at Houston Baptist on Feb. 16, 2019, also winning that game 14-8.

Danny Crossen, Spenser Smith and Corey DiLoreto joined Dupere and Olson with multiple hits for the Huskies. RHP David Stiehl tossed 2.2 innings, striking out three, out of the bullpen.

Northeastern and Hofstra will play the series finale on Sunday at 1 p.m. The game will be streamed on FloBaseball.
