Bridgette Mitchell Adds Weaver, VanZeben to NU Staff

BOSTON – Northeastern women's basketball head coach Bridgette Mitchell proudly introduced Jazz Weaver and Amanda VanZeben to the Huskies' staff on Thursday. Weaver will join the team as an assistant coach and VanZeben will join as director of operations.
 
Weaver comes to Northeastern after a four-year stint with the Canisius women's basketball program as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator.

"Jazz is extremely hardworking and passionate about improving the programs that she has been apart of the recruiting front," said Mitchell. "She has experience identifying the best possible athletes and forging genuine relationships. I am excited for her to be with us!"

VanZeben has spent five seasons serving in the director of operations role for three programs and has spent the last five years as a college scout with the National Scouting Report.

"Amanda's selflessness is really admirable," said Mitchell. "I am thrilled that she will be helping us."

JAZZ WEAVER
Weaver joins the Northeastern staff following four seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator with the Canisius women's basketball program.

Prior to joining Canisius, Weaver was director of operations at East Carolina, Northern Illinois and UNC Greensboro. She also had her first assistant coaching opportunity at UNC Greensboro during their 2015-16 season.

In 2019, Weaver was named one of the Women's Basketball Coaching Association (WBCA) Thirty Under 30.

As a player, Weaver played in 85 games for UNC Greensboro (2008-12) and helped lead the Spartans to four-straight SoCon Tournament appearances. She earned her Bachelor of Science in sociology criminology with a minor in African American studies from UNC Greensboro in 2012.
 
A native of Covington, Ky., Weaver is a member of the Covington Public Schools Athletic Hall of Fame.

AMANDA VANZEBEN

VanZeben joins the Northeastern after being a college scout for the National Scouting Report since 2016.

Prior to being a college scout, VanZeben was director of operations for women's basketball Loyola University in Chicago from 2014-16.

VanZeben also served as an assistant women's basketball coach at University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) from 2011-13.

Along with Loyola University, VanZeben has been director of women's basketball operations at American University and University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV).

VanZeben graduated from UNLV with a Bachelor of Arts in sociology in 2006.
