FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - No. 3 seed Northeastern (36-10) will open the NCAA Fayetteville Regional with No. 2 seed Nebraska (31-12) at Baum-Walker Stadium on Friday. First pitch against the 19th-ranked Huskers will be at 8 p.m. ET and the game will be streamed on ESPN3 and will air on WRBB 104.9 FM.

NORTHEASTERN AT THE NCAA TOURNAMENT
The Huskies are making their ninth NCAA Tournament appearance and second under head coach Mike Glavine (2018, at-large). Northeastern is 6-16 all-time in the tournament with their last appearance coming in 2018 at the Raleigh Regional, falling to No. 2 seed Auburn (13-4) and No. 1 seed NC State (9-3). 

CAA CHAMPIONS
The Huskies won the CAA North Division Title and CAA tournament title for the first time in school history. Northeastern smashed 12 home runs and scored 37 runs over five games at the conference tournament. Ben Malgeri tied the championship game in the bottom of the ninth inning with his second home run of the game off CAA Pitcher of the Year Landen Roupp, and Max Viera hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 10th inning to lead top-seeded Northeastern to its first-ever CAA Tournament Championship, 11-10, in 10 innings over No. 2 seed UNCW (32-22) on Sunday at Brooks Field. Right-handed pitcher Brian Rodriguez (3-0) earned the win in relief, retiring 6-of-7 batters faced in 2.0 scoreless innings.

POWER SURGE
Jared Dupere leads the CAA with a .807 slugging percentage, 57 runs scored and leads the country with 0.46 home runs per game (21). He was named CAA Player of the Year becoming just the second Northeastern player to earn the distinction since 2006. His .351 batting average ranks sixth in the CAA and his 48 RBIs ranks second in the conference. He broke the single-season school record with 21 home runs this season.

NCAA RANKINGS
Northeastern is No. 3 in WHIP (1.11), stolen bases (2.56 per game) and ERA (2.99), No. 4 in winning percentage (.778), No. 6 in H/9 (7.16), No. 9 fielding percentage (.981), K/BB ratio (3.29) and BB/9 (2.81), No. 25 in batting average (.299) and No. 28 in on-base percentage (.394). 

SCOUTING NEBRASKA
Nebraska won the Big Ten championship after finishing 31-12 in the conference. Jaxon Hallmark leads the Huskers with a .341 batting average and is tied on the team with eight home runs, while Max Anderson batted .337 with seven home runs and 32 RBIs. Spencer Schwellenbach leads the team with 35 RBIs and has thrown in 16 games in relief, tallying nine saves and an impressive 0.71 ERA. The starting pitcher for the game against Northeastern will be LHP Cade Povich with a 6-1 record and 2.82 ERA.
