NORTHEASTERN (36-12)

  • This is the ninth NCAA tournament for the Huskies
  • Northeastern is 6-18 all-time in the NCAA postseason
    • The Huskies are 1-9 all-time in NCAA elimination games
  • The last tournament win for the Huskies came in 1997
  • The 36 wins ties a program record set in 2018
  • NU is making its second NCAA Regionals appearance in the last three years
  • The Huskies are 8-9 when their opponent scores first; NJIT scored a run in the third, fourth and fifth innings
  • Northeastern ranks third in the country with a single-season school record .750 winning percentage, which currently ranks as the best in program history
    • .700 in 1991 – 35-15
    • .686 in 1994 – 35-16
    • .634 in 1997 – 33-19
    • .632 in 2018 – 36-21 (earned at-large bid to NCAA Regionals)

  • The series is tied 1-1
  • Northeastern defeated NJIT, 5-4, in 14 innings on March 15, 2009
 
PLAYER NOTES
 
Sophomore Danny Crossen (3B)
  • Made a great diving play at third base
  • Sent a deep fly ball to left field in the 9th inning that fell just short to tie the game
 
Junior Ian Fair (1B)
  • Improved his on-base streak to 27 games
  • Finished 1-for-2
  • Drove in the first run of the game for the Huskies
 
Freshman Cam Schlittler (RHP)
  • Finished the year 8-1
  • Worked 3.1 innings, allowing 2 runs
  • Struck out 2 and allowed 4 hits
 
Sophomore Spenser Smith (SS)
  • Went 2-for-3
  • Posted his 12th multi-hit game of the season
 
Senior David Stiehl (RHP)
  • Tossed 2.0 scoreless innings in relief
  • Did not allow a hit and struck out 2
 
Freshman Max Viera (2B)
  • Smacked his 6th home run of the season
  • Went 1-for-4
  • Scored 1 run
